Pakistan announces arrest of senior al Qaeda militant

A senior al Qaeda operative has been arrested by security agencies in Karachi, the Pakistani military said in a statement Tuesday.

The military identified the man as Muhammad Ali Qasim, also known as Abu Sohaib al Makki, a Yemeni national who has been working directly under al Qaeda leaders along the Afghan-Pakistani border.

The arrest is a major development in unraveling the al Qaeda network operating in the region, and comes more than two weeks after al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a military operation in Pakistan.

Please forgive me for being skeptical and cynical, but when I saw this article, I couldn’t help but think of that line at the end of the Humphrey Bogart movie, Casablanca, where Claude Raines says to his men: Round up the usual suspects!

It makes me so happy to see Afghans so patriotic and resolute against the Taliban. That form of government is inhuman and unnecessary. And Pakistan... Seriously. Pakistan should be ashamed of itself not because Americans got away with violating their sovereign borders to kill UBL, but because we had to. Why was he there? Shame on Pakistan. Shame on the demonstrators who burn American flags. Let them be friends with Iran and China. Perhaps they will relish the form of government shared by their two new friends. Just font expect the USA to send another penny in aid.

When WE hear the name of Pakistan in Afghanistan, automatically we imagine that fraud cheating and fake in everything, everything Pakistani productions are fake and have no quality,

anyway to the point i can say, Pakistan neither is loyal for the extremists and nor to the international forces, because they are not trustable people, they are the country and people who growth just in cheating and fraud, for example during the election Pakistan sent their people to vote for Karzai in east and south of the country, so we can say Pakistan is the top and great cheater and fake country in the world,

    From the ground Kabul

Kind of an idiotic rant here.

Many Pakistanis have died fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda. There are problems of infiltration and supporters of both these murderous groups within Pakistan but all nations have some of that going on (but of course not receiving massive contributions of money from the US to "fight terrorism").

Still all in all, the relationship needs to be re-established and on new ground where the Packistanis root out those individuals with loyalties to terrorists and do more to go after those operating in their northern tribal-ruled territory.

So in the end, your rant about Pakistanis being "untrustable people" again fails to give credit due to those who have tried and continue to try and fight the common enemy of Islamic extremists – and this story is about that!!

hahaha I can't stop laughing at weak Pakistani tricks.
They are keep trying and trying to fake everything and misguide USA and Afghan Government.

I don't know about USA but Afghanistan is recovered and 90% stabilized and I don't think Pakistan can play game in Afghanistan anymore, Pakistan Government words are on blacklist of Afghan Government, even if Pakistan tell the truth to Afghan Government, Afghan government will take it as a joke or ignore it completely.

Now Pakistan is a joke to the world, if Mullah Omar travel to Afghanistan today, he will be dead within 24 hours no matter what.

I feel pity for Mullah Omar and other Taliban leaders, now they are hiding like mouse and thinking every second when they will die and i am very proud of my Government/ANA/ANP.

Please kill every single Taliban if any of them come near to Afghanistan Border or try to cross the border, indeed kill any Pakistani or Irani if they try to come near our border!!!!! Kill all stupid Pakistani and Irani Terrorists.

Pakistan been free for the past 60+ years and Afghanistan only 10 years, right now Afghanistan is 50 times more peaceful than Pakistan.

Salute Afghanistan and Love You !!!! 😀

Eiza – You are wrong. Many Pakistan people are pro-Taliban and protected OBL, like he was protected in Sudan and Afghanistan, but Pakistan arrested many AQ members including Mohammad Khalid amd this is why USA paid 20 billions to Pakistan.

I understand what you are saying but to be honest, Pakistan doesn't care about USA nor Taliban, they care about $.
They can kill even their own mother for $, today they are under pressure that's why they are arresting AQ members and asked Mullah Omar to leave Pakistan.

Mullah Omar is paying $ to stay in Pakistan, now USA is forcing Pakistan to handover Mullah Omar that's why Pakistani ISI requested Mullah Omar to leave Pakistan and travel to Iran. if you don't have this info, google it 😉
