CIA contractor released after Pakistan killings

A CIA contractor who killed two Pakistani men was released from jail Wednesday after $1.4 million in compensation was paid to their families, according to a lawyer closely connected to the case .

Raymond Davis - who has now left Pakistan, according to a U.S. official not authorized to speak for attribution - had been in jail since January in a case that has strained the always tense relationship between the United States and Pakistan.

The families of two men he killed forgave him, a government official said Wednesday.

Davis' immediate destination after being released was unclear.

DAN this is true American way of justice in world, first kill and then pay dollars. What a shame, the way USA, pose herself as champion of human rights, democracy and universal justice, they should never have interfered in Raymond Davis judicial trial as he had killed innocent citizens in Pakistan. But whole world saw how from top to bottom in American Govt managed all deal, first pressurizing and finally bribing to save their cow boy, with out caring for universal justice. This double standard and killing world over is constantly adding to the hate against Americans. So DAN is it not stupid to spend Americans Taxpayers money in purchasing hate for Americans?
DAN be realistic and do not see this issue as fanatic Christian or from baby killers angle. Just think over this what you get in return what you do here. According to UN survey if half of the dollars spent on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had been spent on human welfare projects in the world it would enabled each individual to get clean drinking water, food and free education. Certainly it would added to the love for Americans all over the world. SO feel the difference and see how Americans taxpayer money can be used in the interest of Americans.

Salerno there is no question of why Americans or this cow boy killed innocent citizens as for the last three decades they are killing us in our homes. Just see this drone attack, killing local elders and similar attack has been carried out by Raymon Davis. Americans MIC has the right to test their weapons and also find a market for MIC in the long run. They have a licence to kill as many as they wished any where in the world. You see this death merchandise in Latin America, Middle East,, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia as they have the right to take the right to live from those opposing their death merchandise.

And of course to implement this strategy they need to support and be supported by local governments and dictatorships.

well well ,good to see American justice and greenbacks doing a fine job on the other side of the world. It would have been great to have sat in the corner as the men in black with sunglasses on and a suitcase of YOUR tax dollars doing their version of LET'S MAKE apparently any American can go and do what ever he/she wants to do any where in the world and there will be the boys with the suitcase of YOUR tax dollars and your "GET OUT JAIL" pass.just remember folks you hauled a Somalian pirate half way around the world and put him in prison for 35 years.some of these "contract" boys spend more time in some of these third world prisons,it should be alittle cheaper on the American tax payers would'nt you say folks?

I can't believe that someone who killed two people on the streets is allowed to go free like that. shows how Pakistani officials are nothing but puppets in the hands of Americans. US Dollar can buy anything, even a person's life:-)

US is helping the dictators and the military to kill their people. They did so in Yemen, Pakistan, Egypt. So the No-fly zone in Libya is comical. No-Fly zone should be put in place in Afghanistan !

Doubt if the family will get much of this payoff. Most of it will go into the pockets of tribal warlords and corrupt politicians. That's why it was so high, to make sure they got something. The contractor saw the two guys on the motorcycle were coming after him and he didn't want to end up like Pearl with his throat cut on TV or like the journalist chained to a pipe for 7 years. If even the CIA can't properly protect one of its own contractors, we are in deep doo doo.
