Tension between Petraeus, Afghans over airstrike, children

The U.S. military is denying Afghan government accusations that Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of international forces in Afghanistan, callously dismissed concerns of an airstrike burning children in a northwest village.

The accusation, reported by the Washington Post, stemmed from a weekend meeting in Kabul between Afghan officials and the general to discuss an airstrike in Kunar province.

Afghan officials say the strike killed nearly 50 women and children, in addition to 16 insurgents. The International Security Assistance Force said its weapons system video showed that 36 insurgents carrying weapons were killed.

Also with the normal civilians cadres also had come and they did surrender. Few of them blasted near the camp too when the official army were checking them. Must tell Taliban to surrender first . If they dont the civilians must leave them.

Dindy – you are shawing your stupidity as the situation is different from Sri Lanka, and it is not applicable inside the Taliban.
When I call you stupid is not an offens, just an explanation why your solution is not a true solution.

In Sri lanka when army told to leave insurgents these brave Tamil sisters and brothers in our country left them and came to Army camps near by . They risked their lives to get rid of suicide bombers from our country and to restore peace that we enjoy now.

They cannot, as they have not another place to go. This is why they can just turn into suicide bombers.

They can though have a change of heart and begin to learn to live in a free and democratic society where everyone has a say in how they want to be governed and by who they want to be governed by. Freedom is God's given right for every human being and as you can see it is manifesting itself throughout the Middle East and now that the afghan people are enjoying it for themselves there is no turning back, but if there is a place in Afghanistan that wishes to live under the Taliban and it's strict sharia law, debate it within the district council and people in the province or district like normal, caring and loving humans instead of killing each other over it and then vote on it like discerning people!

In any case the insurgents are using civilians as human shields to ward off attacks by NATO forces. The insurgents are to blame when they hide in civilian areas and put civilians in danger. They are the cowards and should be held accountable!

Dan- Idiot – The village is a civilian target. Americans could surround the village and arrest the individuals responsible of insurgency. But US SOLDIERS ARE CRIMINAL PAID KILLERS.
