This ridiculous we have spent billions of dollars on funding the Afghanistan government hoping that they would serve and protect their people. We are sending our soldiers over there to help protect Afghanistan people. But it seems that the Afghanistan government isn't protecting its people but in fact causing wide spread problems for its people. The Afghanistan government is corrupt from the bottom to the top. We need to stop funding the current Afghanistan government because it is not a government that is for the people of Afghanistan instead it is a government is against the people. I feel that it is a great shame for United States to be supporting a corrupt government that abuses it people. United States is county were the government is not against the people but is for the people.

and that is why we are still here in Afghanistan and Iraqi, its to help there people out as well. The only way to do it is to be involved with the government as well. We made a mistake in Iraqi by taking over its government.

faceman00 ..Troops have done their best . They actually have sacrificed their lives too. It is the Afghan government who must speed up their Job.The big question is where is founder of Alqada if he alive. Main purpose was to find him and now the war is going different direction and insurgents are among civilians . So how many more innocents and troops has to sacrifice.? Need a better solution. The war is difficult without full support of citizens.

American wars are reveling counterproductive. They are creating more enemies, destabilizing the economy and the muslim countries like Tunisia, Egypt and others to come. The wars burn oil, increase the debt and this is weakening the dollar. A weak dollar and espensive oil is causing price of food to rise, and this is one reason for the protests in Egypt. The US should shift toward the use of natural gas instead of gasoline to lessen his addiction to foreign oil, improving the deficit ( as natural gas is produced inside US). Lastly stop the wars will have another positive effect on the deficit, the economy and the geopolitical stability.

  11. That Guy

Maybe people who are too dumb to write a sentence and who probably know nothing about the entire afghanistan conflict and history should not voice their ignorant opinions..... and the democrats have had a year to end the war in afghanistan.... which could have easily been done due to their majority in both the house and the senate..... and for those who have a short memory Pres. Obama ran his election campaign on ending Iraq, and moving the military focus to afghanistan, so it isnt the "right wingers" war mongering that still has us in afghanistan

Just because Obama and the majority of Senators are Democrats, they are still right-wingers since they too have been corrupted by the MIC(military-industrial-complex). We're in Afghanistan for that one purpose,to generate money for the MIC!!! For them, war is big business!

I still remember the Viet Nam War protests I attended in 1968. I was the only one there protesting that we were not fighting the war to win it.

If we had fought WWII like we did Viet Nam the western allies never would have invaded France. The Russians would have stopped at the Polish border. Ya, In South Viet Nam we had 500,000 troops, but they were in the wrong country! We should have invaded the north and told China and Russia to stick it up their rear.

The change from winning a major war quickly to minimize the cost and casualties of war started in Korea when the Military, Industrial complex did not make much money off it. Don't forget that the banks make money too, lending to the Government, so they can finance it.

Corporate warfare finally won out in Viet Nam, Iraq and now in Afganistan. The never ending war on terrorism is a godsend to the Military, Industrial complex. Everybody now is making money, except the dead bodies of our troops!

Gen. Stanley McChrystal realized his troops were mere pawns in a larger game. Ya, I would have been relieved of duty also. I too, like Gen. Stanley McChrystal do not suffer fools.

Keeping bases in former soviet territory and maintaining control over the oil region, FOREVER! is far more important that winning quickly and leaving.

Everyone naively thinks that the goal is to win here.

Why would Prez Bush leave a back door out of Tora Bora for Bin Laden to walk through?

Why would Prez Obama delay and then undercut Gen Stanley McChrystal's requests for enough troops to win?

Our ill equipped and undermanned forces have just enough to tread water and that's it. But this is by design. Here are now in 2010, 9 years after 9/11/2001.

Our brave men and women will follow good orders that win wars quickly or bad ones that do not. They have been set up to fail at worst, tie at best.

Come on Charlie, get real! Are you truly that naive or are you trying to be funny like Pfunnie boy? In any case,we didn't invade North Vietnam because LBJ well remembered the 1954 French fiasco at Dien Bien Phu and didn't want a repeat performance and Nixon didn't nuke North Vietnam because of the presence of our POWs there. I well remember the history and we never had any business there, either!!!

If you are in the military, you are committing a punsihable act by voicing your political views with the "US ARMY" by your name. If you were in themilitary, you would know this, so that makes it quite clear you're not.

Since you're not in the military, you are committing a crime by pretending to be in the military. You are impersonating a federal employee. Please leave the Army out of your politics. We don't die for you, but for your right to voice your opinion.

Please get the US army to get a court order for CNN to stop this guy from posting anymore comments on their blog. I do believe he has been using many peoples name and posting comments like this one these blogs. I have asked CNN to track this guy down and should not be very hard to do, to not allow him to post anymore comments on these blogs, but they have done nothing. I am sure with your ranking and with some legal action they would be obliged to do so, thank you.

"We don't die for you, but for your right to voice your opinion."

and yet in the time this war has been on, off, on, all we (UK anyway) have lost more and more of our freedoms, from speech through protest, now this really doesn't add up!!!

Please, Don't put yourself in danger for my "Rights" (they're privelidges really, but I'll let that go, our Education sucks too) get back home protect your family and your own borders, We'll all be happier then (Except the many Arms manufacturers and Government Glee clubs profiting from war I guess)
