It benefits Russia in many ways, lowering drug import, possible closer ties with India, keeps Taliban weak, who were not friends to Russia and limits Chinese influence in area due to mining.
US also gains at least in short term with supply routes, lowering drug exports and training Afghan pilots.

Russia has more interest in the minerals in Afghanistan than it does in fighting militants and drugs.
China is already working there with local labor.

The only difference is that Afghanistan has over a $1T worth of mineral deposits underground whereas Iraq has 11% of the world's oil and NATO and Russia want both and so we fight the so-called "terrorists".

This is all part of the new world order, America wants to take over the oil and gas lines of russia that run through the ukraine, so instead of war, lets help america solidify afgan so they cant leave ukraine to the Russians. Its like tag team for whos controlling world power. Somebody needs to answer why russians sent submarines to U.S water ways, and why it was not in the news. The truth is not hidden is your eyes are looking.

What a moment in the history of Afghanistan when USA destroyed whole of Afghanistan to expel Russians from Afghan soil but today same Americans have invited them to assist in their war against once the US heroes in what ex US president Reagon used to call the evil Empire of USSR and was proudly calling Afghanistan a bleeding wound for Russians. Today Afghanistan is a bleeding wound for Americans and Russians are there to expand the wound further. It is true that history repeat itself and this is proving on Afghan soil.

Wrong answer, the right wing is about the peace and stability of the middle east, those russian staff members inside Afghanistan are apart of a drug enforcement agency, specifically designed by the Russian and Afghan government's in a signed agreement, U.S has nothing to do with it.

So is a "Tarrier!" one who is slow in going late etc.. And a "Tarriest" one who inflicts this on unsuspecting people?

        Lets recap
As some conspiracists here believe Russia's new involvement in Afghanistan is due to a right wing plot . It follows that one must believe that the current head of the US government in foreign affairs President Obama is "right wing"? A bit incredulous one might say.....
Also we are out there for the OIL and resources etc...I guess when Bush Sr went into Iraq we came back with full control of the oil resources that filled our coffers with Gold? And we can all see the profits poring in by his sons venture in to the country again? So it stand to reason that we are after the great resources of Afghanistan? There are many reasons why these engagements

How so? At this point all Russia is doing is cleaning up a mess the afghan war has caused which is an explosion of opium exports. The Russian Federation can see that it's youth is almost entirely under the addiction of heroin and they are getting it from this area of the world. I would ask if you can look at this from a different perspective the Russian Federation is actually joining western powers in exercises even though it's in this messy situation it is in my mind furthering world peace.
