More than nine years into the war in Afghanistan, there doesn't seem to be a lot that's good to report.
From every conceivable angle, things are a mess – starting with the country's attempts at democracy. Officials have now postponed announcing the results of last month's parliamentary elections because of widespread suspected fraud. An election panel spokesman said Monday that about 10 percent of votes have been disqualified because of the suspected fraud.
The New York Times reported that the fraud included everything from stuffing the ballot box to citizens being forced to cast their votes at gunpoint to election officials and security forces working in cahoots with corrupt candidates. Lovely.

It's 9 years but it;s not. While Bush did send troops in 2001, he never took the war seriously. Not until Obama sent troops in 2009 was the war more than an after-thought to Iraq.
The issue isn't 9 years or not – it's Karzai, who has become a theif and incompetent along the scale of Mobuto. Even Papa Doc Duvalier provided more basic services in Haiti than does Karzai – and his own citizens despise him for it. Get rid of Karzai and the country stablizes within weeks //
Or better yet,restore the Afghan Communists to power if there are any still alive today.They wanted to bring that country out of poverty.Too bad they lost out in the civil war.
The main point is,is that the NATO countries seek to take control of Central and South Asia in order to expoit their natural resources and to fill the coffers of the war profiteers in this country while at the same time to promote the political careers of the right-wing politicians as anybody with half a brain should know.
