Officials: Taliban executes boy, 7, for spying

Suspected Taliban militants have executed a 7-year-old boy, accusing him of spying for the government, officials in southern Afghanistan said Thursday.

The execution took place Tuesday in the Sangin district of Helmand province, said Dawoud Ahmadi - the provincial governor's spokesman.

In the past, militants have carried out similar killings of those accused of spying, Ahmadi said.

Three years ago, a 70-year-old woman and a child in the Musa Qala district of the province were executed following the same allegations, he said.

During a news conference Thursday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said officials were looking into reports of the execution and said he condemned the act if it is confirmed to be true.

"I don't think there's a crime bigger than that that even the most inhuman forces on earth can commit," Karzai said. "A 7-year-old boy cannot be a spy. A 7-year-old boy cannot be anything but a 7-year-old boy, and therefore hanging or shooting to kill a 7-year-old boy ... is a crime against humanity."

"If this is true, it is an absolutely hiorrific crime," British Prime Minister David Cameron said during the news conference on an unannounced stop in Kabul. "If true, I think it says more about the Taliban than any book, than any article, than any speech could ever say."

How much more will it take to drop political correctness and wipe the Talibutts of the a** off the earth? Being humane to inhumans is not going to make them think better of us. Let's just continue looking like a nation of inept fools.

If the Taliban Play true to form, they are escalating terror in preparation of a big event. Like attacking the USS COLE, then destroying the Buddha in preparation of 9/11. Those attacks were against objects with people being coincidental; this time it's against people. I f I had to guess they are going to attack specific human targets culminating in one big killing.

Here is food for thought............ I used to belive in an almighty power, just like i believed in Santa Clause. But one day i grew up and learned Neither Existed and relised these beliefs were put in place long ago to excert control over large populations. If the Local Police or legal system does not catch you then someone else will and you will be punished for an eternity for your sins and transgressions..(All a bunch of Bull Crap) Nothing more than a boogie man story. If you sin or misbehave you get punished in this life not some fantasy afterlife. You drink to much your liver fails, you smoke to much you get lung cancer, you sleep around on your wife and you lose your family and mabe catch aids...... you get punished in this life not the next.

Now the question.... If the big GOD existed... how come before we had highspeed internet, Network TV, Cellphones, Ipods and All the wonderful Comunication tools we have now, hasnt he shown up for us like he did for so many prophets thousands of years ago to give us a message.???? Why was it so easy to give Moses Instructions for all the people of the world to live by for him to carve out on tablets.... and we can get a special message from these Divine Figures on Myspace for God Sake... Please!

I want a divine msg sent to me on my Ipod from the lord himself explaining why this planet sux so bad. George Carlin Explained it best..... If there is an almighty all power all knowing God the best description for him/or her is an Absent Landlord at best.. Religion has been the biggest murder on the planet. Strange thing is... i have no faith and i have friends that are jewish, muslim, christian, buddist, so on and so forth.... They dont try to push their beliefs on me and nor do I... but yet we havnt had once single incedent where one of my friends have tried to kill the other over different faiths....... No single religious group is better than the other.

They have all commited atrocities in the name of their own MAN MADE gods.. Humans need to feel special cause we are all born bipolar at birth so we invent these stories to give us importance in this large Unforgiving Universe we live in!!!!

    Flame away!!

What the Taliban does not realize is that Afghanistan has many 1 year old spies covertly sending information to the CIA. In fact a recent communique was from a 6 month old who relayed critical information via Moris code.

The execution of a seven year old boy for spying is possibly even worse than trapping Saudi Arabian schoolgirls in a burning schoolhouse and not allowing them to evacuate because they were not "modestly dressed". Unfortunately, it seems that the Saudi royal family has perfectly radicalized too many of its subject with Salafi teachings and exported these teachings abroad. Will a society of extremes spread and thrive in the future? Probably not.

This reminds me of that seen in the movie"Enemy at the gates" where we see the body of the young boy Sasha hanging from a pole. He had been hung by the Nazi sniper because he had been spying for the Soviets and to bait the Russian sniper. That seen was shocking and horrible and was meant to show how ruthless the sniper was. Killing children purposely like this and as a propaganda tool by the Taliban is a crime against humanity and should strengthen our resolve to end their reign of terror. Those responsible must be brought to justice.

If *anyone* on this message board actually read the Holy Qur'an, you'd know that when translated it does instruct people to "terrorize nonbelievers". So, how do you refute that? That's right, not a suggestion, its a COMMAND from the Qur'an to TERRORIZE those who do not believe. Its not an "interpretation" or anything. Its a direct translation.

Any one with suggestions on how to take down the Taliban needs to step from behind your computer for, find your nearest recruiting office and join us Armed Forces. As far as I'm concerned your suggestions and assumptions are in vain until you step your foot in the dust. When you're over here, then you can improvise your own strategy. Until then what's your purpose?

The military doesn't take suggestions and unless you join the infantry, you probably won't take much personal action in "cleaning up" over there. I do agree that people need to put their money where their mouth is and go fight.

It's easy to attribute the wars to Islam, but, the reality is that natiionalism or a resistance to foreign invaders is a potent source of anger at US. Our allies in many parts of the world are dictators who are hated by their people (Egypt, Saudi Arabia). In Afghanistan we ally ourselves with brutal warlords and corrupt politicians so ordinary people are not very enthused about siding with us for that as well.

I am sure he is now in heaven while those who killed him has bought themselves endless pain in hell. I hope such crimes will not disgrace the reputation of my country Afghanistan. Taliban are not Afghans. The majorities are Pakistanies and those few Afghans who support Taliban should not be considered representative of our country. I don't know why things don't work out in my country but I assure you Afghans love their families and children like Americans.

I think the government needs to hunt and execute every member of the Taliban all over the world. I am from a Muslim country myself, Turkey (even though I don't personally follow any organized religion, but respect all as long as they are moderate, the government is secular and does not use religion in politics to control people). The Taliban, Al Qada do not reflect the religion itself, they just use it to serve their purpose. The sad thing is all 3 religions are the same and continuation of each other..first Judaism, Christianity and 500 years later Islam. The Angel Gabriel (the Messenger) recited the Quaran (translation is "The Recital") to Muhammed, the book starts with Genesis, has all the same facts from Abraham, Noahs flood , Moses to Jesus' birth (remember it was 500 years after Jesus) and refers to Jesus as made by the hand of God distinguising him from a prophet who is a person like Moses, Muhammed.

This will be both a propaganda and theological loss for the Taliban. I can't believe that these monsters have the nerve to kill a 7 year old boy. When I was 7, all I cared about was my toys and what I was going to eat. This kid could've never been a spy. At least he's in a better place now, a place away from all the horrors of this world.

This propaganda news illustrates the desperation of the invaders and their puppets, the assertion that the Mujahideen would execute a 7-year-old boy is ridiculous. The Mujahideen have too much honor to be committing such a cowardly act. The purpose of propagating this type of propaganda news is to defame the Mujahideen and to create animosity in the general public for the Mujahideen.

This is why I do not subscribe to any organized religious group. Every group seems to think they corner the ear of God and their religion is " THE ONE TRUE RELIGION". I abhor and detest any any group or organization, religious, political or otherwise who would subjugate or murder innocent people regardless of their personal leanings. This just goes to show what a pack of barbarians they really are. That's why they are known as third world countries.

While it may seem cruel and inhuman alot of you are forgetting one simple fact, to these people death and murder are the same thing and its been going on for centuries, 7 yrs old is a child to us but to them he is a veteran of things we would never begin to imagine. They believe they executed a spy and age has nothing to do with it, I don't condone what they did but after spending time there I can see why they think what they did was right, after seeing kids firing AK-47 like pros I just thank God I got to come home. If you can't separate the actions of imperfect humans from any religion, such as Islam or Christianity, then you are no better than those TB who are misconstruing the word of Allah and Islam to act like the cruel humans they are. Religions have been used to justify our actions for centuries. Look at what is going on in Israel in the name of religion. I don't hear any of you saying much about that? I know it is very hot right now to diss on Islam, but really grow some balls and attack anyone and any religion if you have a bone to pick with religious concepts.

Second, the thing that we should notice in this story, if it is true, is the way Karzai commented on it. He says, "if it is true..." whereas when he is commenting on alleged NATO or ISAF attacks, he never uses those words... That is what I find disturbing.

@ atheist4jesus.........Right, except that Jesus is quoted as saying to the religious leaders who wanted to stone to death a woman caught in adultery; "let him who has no sin cast the first stome". Your selective textual citations betray a lack of scholarship. Hence, what you have to say can be suspected of being irrelevent.

Look at my name. I respect the liberal teachings of Jesus. It is you Christians who maintain the entire bible is the literal word of God and who cherry pick the old testament where it suits you. Either it is all true or not. Tell me which parts aren't true and aren't to be followed. Explain to me how I am misinterpreting this section:

32 While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly,
34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.
35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp."
36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Is it just a bad translation or what? Is this what Christians are supposed to do with people who work on the Sabath or isn't it? If not, then how can you tell? Why is this section of the OT not to be taken literally?

for your information the christian faith did not start until after the death of Jesus and God was trying to have the Jews show respect on the day of the sabbath. As for Jesus he defended a man who worked to get food on the day of the sabbath!
