To Phil: No an even fight would not be better on my consciene. What would be is if we got out of there. Like crppplll said it not worth an American life. But Phil quick question you said you've seen it right? so this means you were in the armed forces? If so Do you think we should really be there risk more and more American lives?

Our Troops have no business in Afghanistan and the sooner they come home the better. That country is not worth one American life.

To Kilo: so we've killed more of them they have killed us... Astute observation. Does that make you feel bad? Would a more even fight be easier on your conscience? Sorry bud, but that's not how America fights. We do, however go to great lengths to properly ID targets and control the effects of our fires, a policy not shared by the Taliban.

Oh, and most of our engagements aren't harming women and kids. True story. Seen it happen.

We don't need to be over there. Theres no reason to be getting our men killed in order to try and prove a point. And for all of you who think I'm unamerican just because I disagree then your probably the guy that get a damn stiffy every time there is news that we kill another towel head. Also just to let you all know (because I'm sure there's bound to be at lest 15 people who are clueless) we've killed more of them then they have of us. have you all forgotten that we are fighting on their land. Every bomb that we drop kills women and children. So stop talk about how they are animals and just to make this I don't hold our men as the cause and I pray they get out soon.

Well since the media has distorted this I will tell you what my husband said and he is actually there. They were told to stop and they didnt. I say better them than my husband and all my friends. We have families waiting for them too and our kids are waiting on their father. So if you want to fll pity for Afgans go to a milatary funeral and hold the kids asking why they will never see their daddy again. Ah because daddy didnt shoot and they did. So keep your anti milatary comments to yourselfs oh wait better yet enjoy them because they have been bleed for.

@Me.You obviously have no sense of beauty and by your own admission do not believe in God,so is that why killing is not such a bad thing as far as you're concerned? To me,war is a terrible thing and it should never be glorified.

@onesmallvoice, if we were to allow the Taliban to take control and power in Afghanistan there again would be a breeding ground for terrorists to train and plan attacks against the western world. The Taliban's only concern is power in Afghanistan and then they terrorize the people to keep them under their control. It is a great thing that technology has brought us drones that will and has killed senior al Qaeda and Taliban in the tribal areas that Pakistan can't fully take control of within their state. It is far better then putting soldiers in harms way. I PRAY THAT THE DRONES KILL ALL OF THE ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR POWER AND CONTROL OF ANY COUNTRY. MAY THEIR LIVES HERE ON EARTH BE SHORTENED!

All of you who think they know whats going on over here are clueless. The drone planes are doing exactly what they are designed for. Collateral damage happens with EVERYTHING!!! You all want to talk about history blah, blah, and effin blah. If you have ever stepped foot in either theater, you would realize that religion is dead, GOD is not here because if he were then I guess he kindve checked out already. Until you have put on a uniform, you have no voice and you should do society a favor and suck start a handgun.

Here's some more of this right-wing bla-bla-bla about the "progress" that we're perpotedly making in Afghanistan trying to brainwash the American public into supporting these idiotic wars.In fact, had we not stupidly jumped into WW1,Germany would have easily won and most probably would never have been a second world war.Why can't we learn from our mistakes???

Another disgusting example of the disregard for life that the Taliban continues to display. The Afghan people are tired of the war and will eventually stop these radical groups from carrying out these horrific attacks. Our Coalition Forces will remain in the fight against these insurgents until peace is achieved. The Afghan Army and Police are getting better everyday and I am working in the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan command that helps to recruit, train and resource the Afghan forces. It's rewarding work since they are making a difference all around this great country.

@ Onesmallvoice, ISO Dan Lafeyete...how ignorant are you? to put it in your words, "those rotten butchers who operate those godless aircraft should be brought to justice and dealt with appropriately". obviously your ignorant enough to believe everything you read/hear in the media. its sad really, the fact that you have no opinion of your own; instead you walk around spewing bs from whatever news source you most recently viewed. whats even worse if that you take it all at face value...and you have no experience to back anything you say, that is of course other than the last lecture that your professor gave based on their 'studies' at your liberal arts college....emphasis on the liberal. why don't you sack up and at least formulate your own opinion?..and maybe it wouldn't kill you to support the troops while you shove another twinkie into your suck

The Americans are in Afghanistan because of 9/11, people. The Taliban started the war, and we're gonna finish it. Do not compare the Iraq & Afghan wars because they are apples & oranges; we've just begun to dedicate our fullest efforts to Afghanistan, after beginning the ground war there in 2001-2.

I know who you are, Paul. You, the Taliban, are losing the war, You can't hide in Pakistan any more.

Why are the western goverments satisfied with keeping these wars on going, instead of putting the terrorists organization( islam) perminently out of business, they do not care how many innocents or western military personnel they kill, they even send womens and children to blow themselves up while they sit in thier mosques and laugh, there is only one solution and only one solution and that is to permenently kill islam totally, when will western leaders wake up, or are they going to continue trying to make us believe they don,t kill innocents, we have to bring these wars to a end and we are not going to do it the way they are,

And please spare me all that gobbeldy-gook about those drones only killing "militants". And speaking of "wild animals",those rotten butchers who operate those godless aircraft should be brought to justice and dealt with appropriately

It is easy to see that the Taliban are using terror to regain power in Afghanistan. They target innocent people in their bombings of bazaars, schools and other public places. They have no regard for human life and should be treated like the wild animals that they are!

I am trying to learn what is going on there. Started with Rubin's The Fragmentation of A.
Then Goodson's Afganistan's Endless War: State Failure, Regional Politics, and the Rise of the Taliban. Then Rashid's Taliban. Then Chayes' The Punishment of Virtue: Inside
Afganistan after the Taliban. Now Fitzgerald and Gould Invisibel History: A's Untold
Story. I seek more sources that are serious not polemical and perhaps I will know enough to say something worth while. I believe the situation and the hisory is very complex and we should take care before we claim to know what is and has gone on in that part of the world. Who distorts events is not that simple to be sure of. All of us must be willing to admit we may be basing our opinions on inaccurate information. I did years ago study some of the possible actors in the area in graduate school but not specifially A. Now it looks like I'll have to learn about P also. Thank you for reading this.

Media is distorting information from Afghanistan. It is strange that people and leaders of Afghanistan don't show any resentment against Taliban who carryout kill and maim them. Anti American sentiments are being deliberately floated in the media. Iranian agencies are financing this game in the region. NATO and American field soldiers are the target.

I couldn't imagine what would happen if they protested the Taliban as openly as they have protested the U.S. At least the Afghanistan citizens are able to participate in free speech to a certain extent. This is what I want for them, to be able to speak their frustrations openly (although I agree they are a little misguided possibly – I wasn't there) I'm proud of our troops as well for continuing to fight for these people

OK people where is the outrage at the Taliban who did this? Hey you Afghan people why are you not rioting & screaming at the Taliban & asking for compensation from them? Where are all the ungodly, unbelieveing, tree hugging, USA bashing, yellow belly little cowardly naysayers. Come on, I am sure you should have something to say to the Taliban, they just killed a bunch of inocent people. I guess it is allright for them to do it because they do it all the time & they live there?
To all who are over here in either one of these conflicts doing your part, THANK YOU.
May GOD Bless & keep us all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
