At least 13 killed in bike bomb explosion

KABUL, Afghanistan - A bicycle-borne bomb killed at least 13 people and injured 45 others Wednesday in Afghanistan's Helmand province, officials said.

The explosion occurred near a local market in the Nahr-e Saraj district. Among the injured were eight children, one woman and a police officer, said provincial spokesman Daoud Ahmadi.

The improvised explosive devise was placed on the bike, said a statement from the Interior Ministry, but it was unclear whether anyone was riding it. An investigation is underway.

A NATO-led international patrol responded at the scene and ferried the injured to one of their hospitals, Ahmadi said.

Southern Helmand province has been center stage in an international effort to oust the Taliban.

"I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul", said by some great being and repeated by millions as great as the first person to have said so – should be the determining factor for our actions.
While people are SLAVES to others, this sort of incident would be seen as normal in said countries. If and when people could be so BRAVE as to defend themselves showing that they are sufficiently AWARE that whatever can harm anyone else can also harm the doer, then and only then, will such EVEIL actions be eliminated. Peace to the departed, speedy recovery to the injured and good luck to all who escaped being in the wrong palce at the wrong time.
