ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Five civilians were killed and 13 injured when a bumbling suicide bomber tripped Thursday as he tried to attack a military convoy in northwestern Pakistan, police said.
The suicide bomber was running toward the passing convoy when he tripped over a bench and detonated before reaching his target, said Asif Khan, a Peshawar police official. The attack occurred in Baraqadeem, an area just outside of Peshawar, the capital of the North-West Frontier Province. The bombing occurred around 5:50 p.m. (7:50 a.m. ET), Khan said.
