U.S. soldiers discuss bin Laden's death

The mood among the troops at Bagram Air Base, the nerve center of American operations in Afghanistan, is one of cautious optimism. US soldiers acknowledge that the killing of Osama Bin Laden was a big achievement for America, but that their mission here is far from over.

the mission will never be complete. It's going to just keep going back and forth, back and forth.

Of course the mission is not complete. ISAF needs to insure the insurgency is squashed and AL Qaeda is no longer able to launch missions. How this needs to be done is debatable. In order to keep Salerno happy (and others as well) no innocents can be killed. This would mean killing with a personal touch, not big bombs taking out houses with collateral damage. This would be fine except the bad guys won't play the same game and set the standards.

It seems funny, locals do not want "occupation". So, the rationalize, join the insurgency and Taliban and launch attacks (or whatever). Yet, when did they join the fight to have their own country, i.e. for the ISAF effort? When did they give that a chance? It seems there is but one answer, they didn't and have elected to be a part of the problem rather than a part of the solution. The coalition will not remain in the country indefinitely but until mission completion (which may vary with time and public sentiment). If the Taliban are ever successful, they will remain indefinitely.

Once again, watch what you wish for because you just might get it.

Locals non-Taliban are closer to Taliban that to USA. They were always invaded and do not trust the western people especially if they are going with weapons. Emergency and Gino Strada had no problems with Taliban.

It's the war for oil, money and world dominance, Non-believers plan Allah also plans and is the best of Planner. 9/11 was hoax and inside job with most of the evidence destroyed to attack Afghanistan, remember Iraq weapons of mass destruction a lie nothing new for U.S. Jesse ventura gets to the bottom of it, May Allah guide him to Islam Inshallah! Media makes sure Islam is demonised but Allah will give understanding to people with concern for hereafter and who are fair of course Muslims believe in all the Prophets. Most of them similar simple lifestyle, clothes, appearance etc, concern for humanity.

Anybody can be "good and brave" as long as they have the heavy military hardware to hide behind such as,those ungodly drones,Apache helicoptors, heavy artillery,bullit-proof vests, etc.

USA should cut all AID and kick all terrorists from Afghanistan (seems no terrorist left in Afghanistan anymore, all are living in Pakistan for the past 7 years now ) then Pakistan will not have any $ and that's the end of Terrorists.

Terrorists are only running for $, if no $ from USA and no $ from Afghan Drug then they are dead😀

I am emailing you from Kabul, but the main concern of mine is how still the USA is paying for Pakistan for what reason and purpose, if there is something behind the wall and we do not about that, that could be other case, but as long as all people of the world know , Pakistan is the save heaven for terrorists and most of high officials of Pakistan is involved in terrorist group Alqaeda and Taliban, and there is also exist other terrorist groups, Kabul and he was saying that there is no Alqaeda in Pakistan , it is just the thinking of Afghans not more than that, and Karzai also was pointing his head as positive singe, but it was the god is magic and the USA is brave action that disclosed the fact last week by killing of wild Alaeda leader in Pakistan Abbotabad, where is the military base, and its is prove for that, there is no difference between Alqaeda and ISI Taliban, they are the same wild dogs ,
