6 dead after gunman turns weapon on troops in Afghanistan

A gunman in an Afghan Border Police uniform opened fire on NATO-led service members Monday, killing six of them, the International Security Assistance Force said.

The incident happened during a training mission in eastern Afghanistan, ISAF said in a statement. A joint Afghan and ISAF team are investigating.

The suspect was also killed in the incident, the statement said.

If you feel so passionate about the issue go to Afghanistan and take up the cause...Not from some online forum but from the countryside. Your rhetoric is that of fools, fools playing grown-ups, the blind leading the blind... I get so tired of those of you that insist the people of Afghanistan are being wronged by the efforts of the US Military and NATO. Your perspective would be different if you left your comfy couc h in your apartment in the WEST. Get a grip on reality you sound like an uneducated person trying very hard to sound educated and you sound like ....(oh I already said what you sounded like) . If it wasn't for the US efforts over many years (and NATO's recently) the people of Afghanistan would be speaking Russian and wouldn't even have a country. ahh what a waste of time and existence you are....

Nothing new here, the Vietnamese would turn their weapons on US troops when the firefights were going south and the Viet Cong were wining the the fight.

Extremism that calls for the death of all other religions except theirs needs to be stopped.

Jesus created Christianity, not Islam. Christians do not promote Hinduism, but we listen to Jesus' teachings of RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE, a concept which the Taliban an Al Qaida, who aren't even true Islam, cannot seem to grasp.

Hitler sid the same thing about the Jews that you are about Hindus. If everyone followed people like that, there would be very, very few people on earth, if any. Im talking probably less than 100,000. Your views are more extreme and racist than is socially acceptable, including in Islam. You have been iven every chance to become tolerant, yet you refuse. Why?

The Lord Jesus had said that there would be false prophets like Muhammad that would try to change ones belief in Him! I wonder what other heinous crimes you will commit against the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

My views on the future of this country keep oscillating. With full NATO backing and complementary resource taking its clear that the great effort to build over this giant plot of land will continue. And yet, with each native response its also clear that too many are not buying in. Its not called the grave yard of empires for nothing. Whats next?

That's a very good question Craig, but I know the answer. It's qute simply that the Afghans do not want foreign rule but the right-wing thugs in Washington just don't care.

this shouldnt be about political loyalty, it should be about whats right. even if they dont want us there, we have a moral obligation to try to help. maybe not exactly this way, but we still do. the Taliban have slaughtered thousands of people even if their opinions slightly differ from there own. how would that be better for them, to be in the control of terrorists?

NO, this war is a reminder that we will not let an army of extremists allow terrorist networks to train and plan attacks on the western world! And if these Islamic extremists believe they can kill western people because of the way they live then may God have mercy on their souls!

Afghanistan Cricket team came for the finals with Bangladesh. For the first time in the Asian games which held in China,. The country has changed during these nine years. They are going to have a official Army soon. They already have police. Woman health minister. Give them a chance. Afghanistan is changing and the credit goes to the Foreign and Afghans who fought against Taliban. It was not easy. But those brave men faced it. Why Bringing down their sacrifice At least respect the fallen soldiers who sacrificed to make a better world.

  9. BANGASH

In beginning when US/NATO forces landed in Afghanistan and captured capital Kabul, a group of ISAF soldiers, during security duty were in a vehicle , parked in a square at Kabul, when a seventeen years old boy from Khost province saw them with guns in their hands. This he did not like therefore next day arranged a hand grenade and went to the same square and saw same vehicle with foreign soldiers. He straight a way went and attacked with grenade. Soldiers were killed/injured but the guy remained unhurt however he was arrested and during investigation confirmed that he had no link with Taliban or Alqaida but he did not like to see and afford foreign invaders at his soil. So this incident is also not unexpected and the new one as many such incidents have already happened. This should not be taken as simple incident of friendly fire as it has a clear message for USA and the West that they will never be liked with guns and bombs in hands on Afghan soil. So pack up and replace these cow boys with Doctors, engineers, and social workers. Remember, half of these billions of dollars, being spent today on deaths and destruction, if spent on Afghan welfare projects it will turn entire Afghanistan a paradise on earth. All Afghans including Taliban will love you all till they are on this surface of earth. Afghans are very extremists in both, friendship and enmity. So choice is with USA-West. If you wish to make Afghanistan a hell for Afghans then remember you are also there in that hell and enjoy these coffins.

Granted, no government is going to go into any other country and make everything right and proper. But, hundreds of times schools, hospitals and infrastructure have been built only to be blown up with children and adults inside. There needs to be cooperation on all sides. We don't want to be there any more than Afghans want us there. But the rest of the world needs the middle east to function as members of the planet. We all want that part of the world to be at peace and to prosper. We would prefer they do it them selves. But they can't. The rest of the world seems to believe the people there are important and deserve to prosper or we wouldn't be sending our people and money to help.

Granny it is very simple if Afghans wanted you then why this ninth year is worst for occupation forces and you would not have received the ever increasing number of coffins of your loved one. So be realistic and try to understand reality. I am a humanist therefore hate none as for me every human being is a dear member of my human community. I condemn USA for their inhuman actions in world politics which even today majority of Americans do. They do not like to live on sucking the blood of poor nations. Can you deny tis fact that America is the biggest producer and dealer of all deadly weapons and in every war in the world America is a party? GRANNY we have a very beautiful world. Let us build it jointly for our coming generations as history of wars is full of just destructions nothing else. Kindly visit johnperkins.org to understand my view point.
