lf the Iraq war was about oil, then we would have invaded Mexico or Alaska. Closer and would have cost less!

Does anyone truly believe that Sadam Husseinwould have said no to Al Queda if they wanted some of the sarin gas he used to kill almost 100,000 Kurds in his own country. Oh, I forgot, there were no WMD in Iraq – up to three days before we crossed the border from Qatar. Let's leave Afghanistan so the Taliban can take control again and allow all those terrorist training camps to start up again so the Western Infidels can feel their wrath.

Our grandfathers from WWII from all countries that came together to crush the Nazi threat are either rolling over in their graves or wiping a tear from their eyes.

The myth regarding the military might of the USA is wearing pretty thin by now. Think back to Vietnam and now think about Afghanistan. The US military are not the best trained and certainly not the sharpest knives in the drawer. With learedrs like Rumsfeld and Bush it is small wonder.

The amount of times I hear Americans say " if it wasn't for us what language would you be speaking" really come on, and what language do you think you'd be speaking if it wasn't for England? not English thats for sure. oh and The battle of Britain had already been won by the time you joined WW2 WITHOUT your help.

As for the equipment you 'gave' us no you didn't, you sold it us at very high interest rates that pretty much bankrupt the country (which we only managed paid off in 2001), thats not aid thats profitering during out countries darkest hour, thanks

Thank you for your comment Thorsshammer. This forum discussion appears to have stooped to the level of Brits and Americans taking pot shots at each other. I have long admired Americans and it was not surprising that I would eventually end up living in the U.S., 40 years to be exact. I am of the opinion that those Brits who do not like the U.S. or Americans in general, have never been here, know nothing about the culture, nor have they never seen any of the amazing scenery America has to offer. We are supposed to be allies and what a sad statement that this is not entirely true.

Yanks who bash Britain and whine that they-oughta-thank-us are ignorant. Sure the US was essential to beat Hitler but Britain held out alone long enough for pacifist America to get its act together and build a military. Read a few books. Have any they-oughta-thank-us people thought about how many American lives it would have taken to retake Europe in Britain had quit? Even if the US had the guts to shed that much American blood, they'd have found Russians waiting for them on the Rhine or maybe in Paris by the time we got there. About 400 thousand British soldiers died. That's about 400 thousand American casualties they saved us. Beating Hitler was a hell of a fine team effort. If you listen to any of the British or American vets still alive, there's no whining crap from them about who owes whom more. On a team, you don't thank your team mates like they did you a a favor, you embrace them and celebrate the victory. It probably was Britain's finest hour, and a damn good one for the US as well. And now there's a new common enemy who's declared war on Western civilization and wants to kill every American and Brit man woman and child they can get to. Let's aim our sniping at those murderous terrorist Al-Q swine and their buddies.

To the person who said that the United States "beat Britain again" in the war of 1812.

Strictly speaking, that is not true. The US did win the battle of New Orleans (after the war had officially ended), but failed in its strategic goal of conquering Upper Canada. The province of Ontario still sticks "like a dagger into the heart of the United States" as Governor Simcoe eloquently if unirenically put it some years later. (Note to Americans: if you don't know where Ontario is, look at a map. See the dagger? That's us. But don't worry. We're all friends now. Just be grateful you have us on your side.)

Oh . . . and remember . . . the British (with a bit of help from the people who would later be Canadians) burned Washington. Just as well you do have us on your side. So brush up your history (and your hockey).

I said it before and I am gonna say it again. Someone please tell me what are we doing differently from the Soviet Union in the 80s. Fighting and endless guerrilla war in that God forsaken country. Training a local army that flees at the first instance of armed clash.

Proping up a corrupt, inefficient local government that only has control of Kabul. Controlling the major cities and allowing the enemy to control the country side and the border with Pakistan. Bombing civilian targets, allowing the growth of the opium trade. Posting soldiers in indefensible, remote army outposts so they can get ambushed over and over again.

Doing armed patrols across the plateaus and small villages only to have the enemy vanish before our noses when we are there, but return as soon as we leave and intimidate the population in to supporting them. Allowing Pakistan to be a depot for enemy man power, money and arms. The only thing we have not done as the Soviets is the usage of heavy armor and tanks, that is pretty much it.

Other than that we are doing exactly everything else they tried in the 80s and having the same results. We even have the same number of soldiers there they had in the 80s, if not more. Thank goodness, our soldiers have not become opium addicts as most Soviet troops did. After Afghanistan, Russia became one of the biggest heroine consumers in the world thanks to the introduction of opium to its young men during the war.

I am sure our soldiers must be looking around the wreckage of their armies left overs, 20 years from now, someone else will be looking at ours. I have read about the Soviet experience in Afghanistan from its soldiers first hand and we are following the same path, hoping to get a different result. Hopeless, As much as our cause is noble we will never beat the Taliban because the Taliban are the Afghan people.

We will never win this war, because our enemy is in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan is the heart that pumps the venomous blood of terrorist all over the world, Saudi Arabia is the head that sends orders and the theological inspiration for these terrorist. They are also the lungs of the beast that send the money straight to the heart.

I'm an American living in Dublin Ireland. First off, Thank to all my brother and sister soldiers that put their lives on the line everyday so that I don't have to worry about my family back home becoming victims of terrorist attacks. We are very close allies with the Brits and we share information daily on terrorist threats. The bus bombings in London woke up the UK the way that 9/11 make us back home wake up. We are not any better or less than the Brits, we are different nations with similar goals. Everyone needs to get off of there high horse and stop thinking that anyone is' better' than anyone else. The Brits and European heritage have very deep roots in America. Some of you on here arguing are probably related. Quit taking yourselves so seriously for no reason. As countries we all strive to make money, we all strive to be free. That's why our soldiers, Americans and Brits are there, to show these poor, oppressed men, women and children that they deserve to be free. Women are treated like dogs, people are constantly bullied by Taliban and other groups. It won't happen over night and that's why we need to support eachother until the job is done...Everyone have a great weekend and God Bless us all.

For those who would love to see America go it alone, so would we! And when the Islamic terrorists attack your country, don't come crying for help, as you have done in the past. Remember, if it wasn't for us, you all would be speaking German, that is if the Germans would have left any of you standing after bombing you back to the stone age. I have been to Afghanistan, there is a big misconception about refusing tea and manners there. You won't offend anyone by saying "no", and there's no need to take boots off. We bend over backwards to appease these people and their culture, yet we have it all wrong. In my year there, I never once accepted tea or food from any of them. And never offended them by doing so. If you honestly think that you could ever trust an Afghan, you've obviously never dealt with one. If they can't get any personal gain from dealing with someone, they'll move on to whoever they can get it from. And to be honest, if you haven't been over there, shut your pie hole! You have no idea what it's like, and have no idea what you're talking about.

America is already doing 90% of everything in Afghanistan so Britain is most likely getting a good deal out of this although this war is not about making material gains as some have incorrectly surmised. It's about denying Salafi influenced extremist their own country. Some Afghans actually like being free of the Taliban and their oppressive laws. Flying kites, watching movies, having a haircut the way one wants it, singing, having their daughters educated means something to some Afghans. Not to mention the ethnic genocidal attacks the Taliban did against Afghanistans various ethnic minorities. There is a moral high ground for being in Afghanistan. Just look at the cover of a recent Time magazine that had a photograph of a young Afghan woman with her face mutilated by the Taliban.

The battle of Contigny took place late May 1918 and the War ended just over 5 months later. The Canadians won a major battle at Vimy Ridge April 1917 and Passchendaele in October 1917. This resulted in major losses to the Germans and yes they tried a one last hope to rally in early 1918 in an effort to sue for peace but by then they were a spent force, the battle by attrition was not going in their favour with the realization fresh American troops were now available. The early 1918 offensive fizzled and the Germans were done. The threat of a German Revolution (the German Kaiser about to abdicate), food shortages and the deadly “Spanish flu” was hitting Germany and the knowledge the Fresh American Troops were now in the field made the end inevitable. The US was there in time to mop up what was left. Their presence was more psychological than militarily.
My son did two tours in Afghanistan and yes the US is our ally to which I am grateful but so are the Btrits.

The 'one last hope' German spring offensive battled to within a short distance of Paris... in an effort (a giant diversion as it were) to threaten the city. It was hoped that this would have drawn significant Allied troops to defend Paris and allowed for a better go in Flanders. Initially, the battle proved quite successful for the Germans, and they considered victory a possibility.

The Germans were in fact so encouraged by their 'success' in this battle (Operation Blücher-Yorck) that Gen. Ludendorff would launch further offenses in an attempt to capitalize on this 'success'. Gen. Duchene was sacked for bad handling of British/French troops...

The Allies were unable to stop this (3rd battle of Aisne) attack and suffered ~50,000 POW losses, the loss of 800 guns, along with casualties totaling ~127,000 combined French and British troops, before the Germans were finally stopped as things began to go 'wrong' for them. Again, this gives some real perspective on today's conflicts. Between May 27 and June 6, 1918, the Allies suffered ~177,000 casualties and men taken POW (!!!).

Barring the US entering the conflict, could the Allies have continued to suffer such losses... and still prevail..??

To repeat my speculative question, had the Americans NOT been there in force, arriving in dramatically increasing numbers, and shown their ability and willingness to fight hard... would the Germans have 'fizzled'..??

As a note... Gen. Haig's "plan"... one of a "war of attrition", .(!!!!!????!!!!!) did little to deplete the German forces significantly, and cost almost equal numbers of casualties on both sides. Hard to think of his leadership as anything but disastrous.

Similarly, in WWII, once the Americans 'joined' the war... the German generals with smarts concluded that Germany would 'lose the war'... it was just a matter of "how" and how long... and if some kind of armistice could be arranged. Despite this 'knowledge' these generals, and their troops fought on, in a losing tide... until VERY late in the conflict. The shear 'weight' of US economic/manufacturing/recruitment power was easily the deciding factor. Whether the US 'political' will to wage war could be maintained is for another discussion.

I commend your Son, and wish him safety and wisdom... and a quick, safe return to Canada. The Canadians have ALWAYS shown themselves as FIRST CLASS soldiers, and the best of allies... though few know of their past heroism. I've no doubt the "Canucks", the British, and the Americans, will be allies... and GOOD ones... for many, many, many generations to come.

Like all "good friends"... sometimes relationships are 'taken for granted' and talk ensues... but, the friendship is true.

Agreed. Bad choice of words... but, maybe the statement should have been. How would things have turned out if he US had NOT entered WWI or WWII..???

As for reading ones history... that is ALWAYS a great piece of advice, rarely followed.

My information notes the first 'major action' by US forces in WWI as the battle of Cantigny, in which they were 'victorious'. It might be "picky" but that puts the US into the war and decisively so more 'early' 1918 than 'mid' 1918.

Considering that the Central Powers had already made a peace treaty with Soviet Russia, they could bring full weight of their armies to the Western front, and as such began their spring offensive in March. The German's second spring offensive begins a month later in April. I'm not sure if it can be said that as you say "..the war was already done.." at this point. The Americans won their first 'major action' at the Battle of Contigny. While this battle didn't determine the outcome of WWI, it notes the US involvement and growing threat to Germany. The Third Battle of Aisne encouraged the Germans to launch further offensives. Again this doesn't seem to indicate "..the war was already done..". In fact the Germans managed to advance to about 56km from Paris, and were stopped partially due to stiff resistance by the newly arrived US troops.

I think of important note.. especially to those in Britain. Britain, by it's very length of existence, has been involved in countless wars... of every conceivable kind. During just one 'battle', the Third Battle of Aisne, the British suffered around 29,000 casualties. In about 10 days of fighting... 10 DAYS... 29,000 British casualties..!! And this was in an area much, much, smaller than the country of Afghanistan. British readers/posters should read the history of their General Haig in WWI.

Any loss of life in conflict is terrible... but, can people put things in some perspective..?? According to Wikipedia, as of 8/25/10 the US has suffered 1,167 deaths SINCE HOSTILITIES BEGAN. The British have suffered 332 deaths as of 8/21/10. This equals 1,499 dead SOLDIERS who are fighting to protect us. This 'might' be compared to the 2,976 victims of 9-11-2001. And of course 52 people died in the London Subway Bombing...

Do people truly believe that if we simply leave Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc... that these attacks will stop..??

Actually, World War I ended because the German monarchy was about to be overthrown by communists Germans. The government at the time were worried that the communists revolution would take over Germany, and lose their German monarchy. So they made overtures tot he allies for a conditional surrender. However, the US demanded that the Kaisar step down from his throne as a condition for surrender. The British gorvernment were willing to work out a peace treaty to end the war but the US demand for the Kaisar to step down frustrate dthat so the war dragged on for a few more months. Eventually, the Germans caved in to the US governments demand and sued for peace. However later at versaillies both the French and British want to punish Germany by demanding severe reparations (in the hundreds of millions of dollars). While the USA wanted to go easy on the Germans (they just wanted an end to the German monarchy and democracy). This left a very bitter taste for the German people they were forced to lose their King (Kaisar) and forced to pay back millions of Marks which ruined their economy and left millions unemployed. This gave Hitler for ammmunition to blame the Allies and the Jews for Germany's economic woes when he grabbed power. Hence WWII was a by product of both the USA's humiliation of the German people and the British and French's greed for money that bankrupted the country. Thankfully after WWII ended they politicians learnt their lessons and made fairer demands for reparations than before and the US government set up the Marshall Plan to help restore the economies of Europe which were devastated by the war. They also let the Germans reform their own democracy with out interference from the USA. The only sad thing at that time was that the the Russians had occupied Eastern Germany for decades.

I wouldn't give credibility to the same people who lied about going to war under false pretenses. In real morality, there can't shades of it. A person is moral or immoral, but not both, they are as water and oil: Don't mix. If we all know that the wars started or continue on false grounds and lies, when people can start to believe the boy who cried wolf? Never. Let's remember that if they show something is either propaganda or smoke screen for the real reason. And the opposite is also true. If they don't show it is because it's illegal. Let's remember what Bush used to say prior to the photos of Abu Gharib? "We don't torture" he said when in reality the Chinese torture machine was 24/7. Politicians are the old snake oil peddlers of yesteryear, only fools believe in them and they paid dearly and so we have.

Wow..!! A proclamation of a 'black and white' world..!! No shades of gray in your world. Must be nice. I particularly like your statement... " Let's remember that if they show something is either propaganda or smoke screen for the real reason. "

I'm wondering who you might think "they" are... before I try to figure out the rest of the sentence.

When we stop believing the 'boy who cries wolf'... does that mean the wolf never comes..?? I think not.
The wolf ALWAYS comes... that is the nature of the wolf.

I happen to especially like the fable of "The boy who cried wolf". It is used to teach children about making false statements, the REST of the fable is lost on those who use it. What is the 'result' of ALL the actions and reactions in the fable..?? First the boy is sent to guard the sheep. Obviously a bad choice. Nobody TEACHES the boy about guarding sheep. TOWNSPEOPLE'S mistake, not the boy's. After numerous false alarms by the 'boy', nobody teaches him, nor replaces him. TOWNSPEOPLE'S mistake again, not the boy's. Nobody comes to protect the sheep when the wolf DOES come because they don't trust the boy. TOWNSPEOPLE'S mistake again, not the boy's. The end result..?? The sheep are eaten, the townspeople suffer, because wolves will ALWAYS be wolves.

There is some REAL lessons to be learned here for about 90% of the world.

Recall where 9/11 attack was coordinated and financed from; that's our sole interest there.
Now, the result of nation-building there is not great so far- still mostly very tribal with a corrupt central gov't.
Then to commit to "COIN" strategy to support that is the BIG question. Duration and expense need honest discussion.
Viet Nam involved the same strategy with us, and we know well what we accomplished for our troubles.

Of course in Vietnam we had China competing for the "hearts & minds". In Afghanistan we at least do not have such powerful opposition.
I worry about Iran and even the Saudis undermining our efforts there, but they would have to be very subtle to get away with it wouthout the world finding out. Iran might not care. And of course there's the Pakistani Secret Service angle.

Every comment on here is just disgusting!! Britain and America are ALLIES in this war ... however wrong the war may be. Each side is assuming profits that the other is gaining, when truthfully the war is bankrupting us and the countries we are occupying. What is wrong with humanity that we wish death upon another countries people just so our own countrymen might live?? People are DYING and we are so wrapped up in Nationalism and Patriotism that it's suddenly okay for our allies to die in our place? Humanity is suffering at a terrible cost, and all you people can do is wish death upon each other and call each other names. I am truly ashamed to say that I am human at this point. Humanity has become a disease, and is quite effective at killing itself off. Can't we just support one another?

I'm an American living in Dublin Ireland. First off, Thank to all my brother and sister soldiers that put their lives on the line everyday so that I don't have to worry about my family back home becoming victims of terrorist attacks. We are very close allies with the Brits and we share information daily on terrorist threats. The bus bombings in London woke up the UK the way that 9/11 make us back home wake up. We are not any better or less than the Brits, we are different nations with similar goals. Everyone needs to get off of there high horse and stop thinking that anyone is' better' than anyone else. The Brits and European heritage has very deep roots in America.

Interesting point, but actually, the U.S. approached colonialism in a more insidious way. Rather than invading a country with our own troops, we supported some of the worst dictators. We supported Pinochet in Chile, Videla in Argentina, Suharto in Indonesia, Sadam Hussein in Iraq, Mobutu in Zaire and many other unsavory figures. These nasty people did terrible things while they were in power. The overthrow of other US backed dictators such as Batista, in Cuba, arguably led to the installation of even worse dictators such as Castro. If it weren't for the U.S. support of these dictators, it is likely that these reactionary leaders would not have lead such brutal follow up regimes. This doesn't come down to an argument of who is worse between Britain and the U.S., it comes down to the continuing belief that we should support terrible people who align with our short-sighted vision of self-interest.

If Hitler had decided to invade Britian (operation Sealion) instead of attacking the Soviet Union, there would've been nothing any of us could've done about it. There are fools in every nation. We are in this together, my European cousin. To the enemy we are all "the West". It isn't about money, as we are all losing more on these efforts than we can afford in these troubled economic times. And it isn't about "freedom" regardless of how people may try to stretch the definition of the word. It's about national security. National security is about more than protecting against invasion. It is about the safety of our citizens at home and abroad from threats coming from outside the influence of domestic law enforcement.
And, in the case of the Taliban, it's about war. Just in case you missed it, they formally declared war against the US in May. So from that point, any argument about justification based on response to terrorism is moot.

My father was 34 years in the Army and had alot of friends in the British regiments. I was appalled that those troops removed their boots to have "tea" with the locals. If they were suddenly attacked they would have to struggle to get the boots back on or assume combat positions without them. Not a good idea, the soles are reinforced to protect the feet. If a local offers you anything to drink, you only make a show of putting it to your lips, you don't actually drink it – it could be poisoned. If the locals take offense, that's too bad – the same man offering you tea could be reporting info to the Taliban and later that night be shooting at you. Their sense of honor and ethics in warfare is polar opposite to ours.

      Hi Carole,
We do shuras daily, yes we drink the tea, yes the boots (sometimes) come off, but never in the field, or when there is potential for an attack. We are in Afghanistan, not because of the US, remember hte world was attacked on 9/11 not just the US, the US was where the bombs hit but could have been Big Ben, Westminster or WHitehall just as easily. When we arrive in their country, about 80,000 kids in school, majority or all males, now there is over 3 million kids in school, women were being stoned in the market place, Friday executions in the Soccer Pitch, not any more, young girls being castrated, still being practiced but we're educating the people this is wrong, the Taliban so oppresive, that death was the sentence for showing too much skin, not now, is domocracy perfect there, does it look like our democracy, no it doesn't but no longer do Taliban or aAl-Qaeda, train in the open, design attacked and carry them out, that is why we're there not for the USa interest, for all our interest. If we pull out now, inside of a year, they'll attack your subways again, and crash planes into your building killing your family and friends, that is why I am there, why almost every soldier who comes home, I have met, says they want to go back because it is a good mission, a real mission not the phony UN Peacekeeping mission where you get to stand around and watch genicide, or ethicnic cleansing and are powerless to staop it. Next time you see any soldier remember they paid for your freedon, A Soldier is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank cheque made payable to the people and Gov't of Canada/UK/USA an amount up to, and including their life. ..... We should never forget that!!! Freedom isn't free, it was paid for by your soldiers, if you like your freedom, thank a soldier. Next time you see someone in uniform, shake their hand and just say ... thanks

Actually, the United States began with the cast offs of Britain and other European nations, and those who wanted to turn their backs on your evolved way of life. Britain then attempted through their military and economic strength to force her rules on us for her own benefit.
We rose up and kicked her out, and we the people of the United States invented something that had never before existed on this earth.
We did that in spite of Great Britain, not because of her. Britain tried to re-exert her influence in 1812, and nearly succeeded, until we defeated her again.
In spite of those ocurrences, when England could not defend herself, we came to her aid, with money, material and manpower. Most of which we have never once asked you to repay. We have never asked for your thanks. But, we really don't need your personal silly little slanders either.
        You are welcome.

But why should those of Us that had nothing to do with it have to pay for it??? I agree with You that Those that don't want to Learn Our ways to go back to their Country!!! But the Majority of Americans not only learned Our ways but help make it better!!! What I would like to see is the Racist leave This Country so that We can live in PEACE with each other... I feel that even You Indians should have the same rights as the rest of Us!!!

Jongee – Invented? give or take a few hundred years, either the Spanish or Danes were the European finders of North America and certainly the French, Germans, Italians and other contributed greatly. English, was the language – not the country.

Take the Great out of Great Britain. You are not a world power any more and neither are you a naval power. I was in London recently for a visit after 40 years and was astounded at the number of Asians in the city. You can only blame yourselves for your open friendly immigration policies! Ex-pat Brit.

Sternberg, we wouldn't have won our revolutionary war without significant French intervention, and the War of 1812 was anything but a US victory. Read some history.

Invented a country? so you basically took a continents worth of dirt, water, and rock and placed it there? Really? Cause if the British can do that, please build one somewhere near antarctica where we can send all the terrorists and illegal immigrants. Then id kiss the Queens feet

Jongee... relax a second... English is the 'language' of the USA because of the IRISH...

        Not the English...

With some poking around.. you'll be able to find plenty on this fact. English was one of many languages originally spoken in the USA, but not the 'most spoken'... until the Irish arrived. They spread English across the country AS WELL as Irish/Scottish music which we here call "Country Music"... check it out, and learn something today.

I'm American...and married to a Brit... and all I can say is... Do Americans perpetually play Stupid to gain sympathy, or are we REALLY STUPID. THIS video is ABOUT A TRAINING FACILITY LOCATED in ENGLAND to train NEW TROOPS who are as young as 18 before they are deployed to Afghanistan.... Reading through your comments, most of you should be ashamed at your level of intelligence and ignorance. These british soldiers are training to fight for not only THEIR freedom from these horrific terrorists, but also ours. Do not forget the bombings in ENGLAND carried out by them. AMERICA is not the only country they've hit. Educate yourselves before you continue to post idiotic comments on something that protects us.

BlueFox: The only true Americans were the Indians!!! The Ones at that time came from Europe and England!!! Those People didn't want to live under the English ways... That is why We fought them to make This Country free!!! If this country was the way that They fought for... It sure wouldn't be in the mess We have today!!! They wanted all people to have a equal chance to better Themselves... Not just the Rich!!! The way things are now... We would be better off under England... Because the Rich are the only one that has anything now!!!

I think it is Great that both Countries are fighting together foe PEACE in Afghanistan... I can also understand Why They didn't help Us in Iraq!!!

Being half English and half America, i can share a unique perspective into this. it might help some of the more narrow-minded people out there. First of all, I have had the opportunity to travel the world, which has enlightened me to wonderfully fantastic countries everywhere. New Zealand is my favourite (favorite). But moving on. I suppose it is quite likely that without England, America would be very different and would probably be spanish or French speaking. The entire world would be different and WW1 and WW2 would not have happened in the way they did. It is easy to understand that Americans are more thana little jealous at having to borrow so much history and culture from Britain. it is also easy to understand how hurt the Brits are to be usurped in so many areas of pride by mighty America. Consider this, most of the people who argue about this have the intellectual ability of my right testical. I have spent half my life in both countries and quite honestly , i have met some of the biggest idiots in the two countries. i have also met some of the most amazing people. A man who served for Montgomery as a liason officer to General Clark (an American) said this, "America saved our future, we were on our knees in WW2. Thank God for the noble American. i love them" I have met some of those Americans who "saved the bacon" as some of you young unmilitary Americans say. They are some of the most humble, lovely brave people on this planet and they are offended and insulted by the way the younger Americans portray their heroics. Also most young Brits have a problem saying "Thank you America" . Quite honestly though I think England is probably owed a Thank you or two as well. God Bless America and England...and new Zealand,,and I'm gonna be generous and say everyone else as well!!

The only Americans who get to say "If it wasn't for us etc..." are the one's who actually fought in WW2, everyone else, YOU DID NOTHING, stop trying to claim credit for something you played no part in whatsoever.

        Agrajag, bravo! You're absolutely right!

And everyone crying about ripping our soldiers out of Iraq and Afghanistan because it's not fair to them, or we're putting them in danger...the large majority of us know we should be over there and that we're doing good things for desperate people. I understand you may not be able to take the heat from over here in your recliner, watching the news, but don't disrespect our forces by thinking for one second that they need you crying foul on their behalf!
