Local officials: Abducted U.S. service member killed

One American service member who was abducted in Afghanistan on Friday has been killed, provincial government officials said Sunday.

Den Mohammad Darwish, the spokesman for the governor of Logar province, said he learned from locals that the service member was killed. Another official, Samar Gul Rashid - who is the governor of the Charkh district in Logar province - also confirmed the killing, saying he learned about it through Afghan intelligence officials.

Instead of worrying about "the Altar of neo Cons" and other such wonderfully witty assesments by people who like to hear themselves, why not consider the fact that these people are animals and it will take more than 10 years of a stupid war to drag them kicking and screaming into the 20th, let alone the 21st century.

Eventually we will leave and they will go back to playing polo woth each other's heads, murdering women and all the other things that liberals would choose to ignore when given the so much less contraversial option of blah bla bla Bush...

The only way the world will ever get rid of this kind of violence is to ban religion worldwide. Sure you can say that Religion doesnt kill people, religious fanatics do, but where do you think they get their fanatacism? From the religious leaders who wont accept any other possibility of how we came to be and how we are supposed to live.

Down with Babylon the Great!! It has become too great a liability to allow any organized religions to exist. Let people believe what they want in their hearts, but dont let the poison peddlers infect anymore rightous people for their own agenda's. No more talk of 72 virgins if you blow yourself up or preachers spouting nonsense about how your baby will burn in hell if you don't sprinkle some church water on it's head soon enough. No more talk of holy wars, there is no such thing and never will be, war is evil, period.

Try thinking for yourselves for once instead of being manipulated by religion as humans have been for the past 6000 years of recorded history, leading us into the bloodiest wars in history and bringing out the worst in mankind. There are no organized religions out there without blood on their hands and its time to wash our own hands of them.

Your words are as bigoted as it gets. You denounce religion, whilst a great majority of the worlds people do believe in a diety. Doyou like to be told you are destined to hell because you do not believe in God? I'm sure not. Thus I do not condemn your lack of faith and it is wrong for you to condemn those who do have faith in God. It is not religion, nor is it the truly faithful who do the evil. It is the monster who claims religion as his excuse to do evil, and many actual Godless people, maybe like you in lack of true faith, who kill for the sake of killing, or for power or for riches. Truly God loving people do not do that and no true religion calls for the death of non-believers.

Your own ignorance is apparent when you claim I was denoucing any diety, as I said, people can believe what they like in their hearts. I do fervantly denounce the organized religions of the world who throughout history have commited the most vile and violent actions against non-believers including Muslims, Christians, Hindu's, Buddhists, Judaism and even Shinto. Have all the faith you want as long as your belief system doesnt include either converting or murdering those who dont believe the same way you do.

Religions are as bigoted as it gets. Try reading the history of almost every major war in the last several thousand years and you will find one religion or another pulling the strings. HItler himself was a hardline Christian who would have his soldiers swear fealty to him and the Church with their hand on a bible. Truly God loving people should have nothing to do with organized religion, and every major religion has at one time or another called for or at least condoned the death of non-believers.

It sounds as if your a Christian so you may want to read your Bible to find out what it really teaches instead of just listening to some pulpit pedafile tell you how to live. I myself have read through the entire Bible three times and can vouch for the fact that there are plenty of times the God of the Bible commanded his people to slaughter men, women and children of the other tribes and nations because they believed in a different diety.

So Scott, you agree with me, it is bigoted to attack religion, ANY RELIGION, and you recognize that no religion ever murdered anyone to convert them – only evil people who did so IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. Thank you for making my point.

PS Scott, the Bible is not a religion, the Old Testament isa story of creation and genealogy as told by oral tradition then eventually written down, the word of men who believed. Nowhere in the New Testament does "God" say to kill anyone. wBTW, as a diest who believes all men of good heart have saved themselves, even though they know not Christ or Braman or Muhommed et al.

In my opinion anyone who criticizes another's religion is himself the monster. I have lived among Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims and Budhists. All teach basically the same thing, i.e., they are more alike than different. Sure, rituals are different, names applied to their dieties are different, but in the long run they are more similar than anything. Those who run down Christianity are fools, as are those who blast Islam, etc. At issue are the evil people who do evil things in the name of religion. It is not the religion, but the men and women who are evil.

Dave. I am one of your brother Sailors serving with the Marines and I agree with you. Not sure how Margaret can not see what your point is. I don't want to kill unless I have to. I am a strong Christian myself and I know that not all Muslims want us dead. But I hate when people say that Christians killed millions of people. Christianity is a religion, Catholocism is a faith, part of Christianity. Don't put all Christians in the same pile as one faith. I am a Baptist, not Catholic. I'd love to have a world of peace but that is never going to happen until Judgment day. As far as Buddahism and whatnot, those are not religions; they are philosophical beliefs (I should know, I went to college at the largest Christian school in the nation and had to learn all of this.) Buddahism teaches enlightenment for peace, both world and inner. It has nothing to do in beliving in a diety. I am with you, Dave, fighting for freedom, not a religous belief, but so my family can know that there are people willing to die for them to keep them safe.

I'm just waiting for the extreme hatred to end. so what i'm not a muslim... does that mean i should die, or be labeled an infidel?

I am in the Marine Corps, and don't want to kill others. Should i have to kill another to save my own life, so be it. I would be so delighted if for once... just once there was no killing, and it was replaced by some form of peace. I don't claim to be "enlightened" nor do i claim to be a "crusader". I joined this military force so that others could sleep at night knowing that others who wish to impose their religious beliefs don't murder them. I volunteered for this and on my judgement day i know that i will be at peace with my decisions. Should this be a fight for security, or some religious "crusade" i am strictly here to safeguard the rights of all, with no religious agenda or creed behind it.

In this forum i have heard from hatefull people but no one saying NO.. THIS IS WRONG.. THIS IS NOT what my religion is about. Peaceful Muslims of the world, please speak out so we can see for a fact that is not the religion itself that is violent, but those who hijack it and who have made it so.

The mainstream Muslim groups have (and continue to) speak out against the terrorists. But this does not sell advertising (or go with the Western narrative of the conflict) , so it is not reported on widely at all. An Imam recently (6 months or so back) released a 600 page Fatawa on why terrorists are not Muslim and are instead apostates according to the Koran. This was not reported on at all in the west. You really need to get your news from multiple sources (from many different countries). Otherwise it is just propaganda.

Thought you might like to read this letter to the editor of a British national newspaper. Ever notice how some people just seem to know how to write a letter?.
Written by a housewife, to her daily newspaper. This is one ticked off lady.

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York Sept 11/2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in London , and in downtown Manhattan , and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11 and 7/7.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:

    I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:

    I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner – who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes – is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:

    I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, believe me!! you guessed it ......

    I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behaviour!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add:

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. Our soldiers don't have that problem.'

I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this.

Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

    1. Jesus Christ

    2. The British Soldier.

    3. The Canadian Soldier.

    4. The US Soldier, and

    5. The Australian Soldier

One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THEM.

    AMEN!

An Iron Curtain around the Islamic world is the only answer. It worked once before and will again. As with Russia, Islamic countries have to evolve from within and military action will only prolong death and destruction on both sides.

Its clear that a good portion of the Islamic people prefer their way of life, so any change has to come through them. We do not improve their way of life or ours by killing each other.

There could still be limited trade but the west should keep contacts to a minimum, much the same as with the USSR.

I don't know about all the different religious books. I've read most of them. Even got myself a Green and Hebrew primer once to translate the Bible on my own, to see what the truth was. Impossible task for my limited time and limited mental abilities.

It is difficult to for me to believe that anyone, any human being, could stand up and say that killing each other is a good way to experience life. I realize that in our world we each want to impose our beliefs onto each other. We all believe we have the way and the truth and the light. We talk about God or Allah, as if we understand Him or His purpose. And then, in the face of disagreement, or disbelief, instead of standing on the foundation of our beliefs, we kill each other.

I am an American. I look at the Christians, praising God in church, and then hating their neighbors in secret. I see the rest of the world, bending at Mosque to pray, sometimes all day, in reverence and respect and hope and trust and, above all, Faith. Then, standing up, cursing the rest of the world, with hatred in their hearts.

None of this – in any piece of the world – is true Faith. God, Allah, whatever name He is given – He created all. He created the light skinned and the dark skinned, the animals, the fowl, the fish. Whether He gave Muhammad or Jesus, He sacrificed for all of us. Every one of us.

How is it that we can all come from the same source, and hate each other so terribly?

I will never understand. And, if this thought process is what is acceptable in Iran and Iraq and Afghanistan, in America and Mexico and Canada, in Australia, and England – if this thought process is what's acceptable in any part of the world, then I do not want to be a part of it.

I am ashamed of us all. Acting like beasts and then claiming we have the enlightenment and the answers.

I am ashamed of every one of us.

in the quran it asks u to find a contradiction in this book it actuallys asks u to find one. if their is it isnt a true book. well according to the quran the way pharoh dies is explains in two ways. one that he converts before he dies and one when he doesnt cause his hearts hard. their i just found a contradiction. personally i think all god religion are hate based, christian, islam, hinduism. only not harming religions seem good like buddhism or jainism. just look at what all the creation gods do. they pick favorites and tell u to commit genicide to ppl who dont believe what u believe. old testament, talmud, quran, bava gita all prescribe war.

The Pakis are always easy to spot. Eventually, they can't help themselves and complain about the Hindus.
