Pakistan extends tenure of army chief

Islamabad, Pakistan — The Pakistani government has extended by three years the tenure of the national army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, who has overseen anti-terrorism efforts against the Taliban.

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani made the announcement late Thursday in a brief televised address to the nation.

Gilani said Kayani's new tenure will begin in November, the same month he had been scheduled to retire.

Kayani took over as army chief in November 2007, after the retirement of Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who also was serving as president.

U.S. officials have publicly praised Kayani's leadership, under which the Pakistani military launched offensives against the Pakistani Taliban in South Waziristan, the Swat Valley and other regions in northwest Pakistan.

"This decision has been made because of his active role in the war against terrorism and in the implementation of law," Gilani said in his televised address. "We believe with the leadership of Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani the war will reach its logical end with success."

If India is not trying to start something with Pakistan... Why don't they make PEACE with them instead of putting Their Troops at their boarder??? Pakistan like Israel would rather have PEACE with their Neighbors that have a war with them!!! Why doesn't India help fight the Tarriest with both Afghanistan and Pakistan so that none of them would have to worry about them??? That way Pakistan would know that they didn't have to worry about India too!!!
As far as England goes there... They left the Middle East and I'm sure would love to leave India too!!! But with what is going on there they can't just as we can't in Afghanistan... India could better themselves if they really wanted to... It has happen in Russia, China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and other Countries that had better Their Countries!!! Why aren't they doing it instead of blaming it on some one else???

How about doing the thing of brotherhood and friendship, as you yourself champion of. How about fulfilling the commitment your good Hindu Government made to Kashmir people and the world. What is wrong, you can preach love and accuse others of hate, but fail to substantiate your words. Center of Muslim learning Madrassas are place of Education of truth, unlike Hindu teachings of animal nature, Agori, taught and preticed at Ganji amd Juma rivers to eat flesh of dead person. How about mentioning of destruction of Babri Masque in India and countless murders of Muslim, Christians and low cost Hindus by the Hindu Governments of India before you complain about any one else.

Two wrongs don't make one right. I guess you did not read my comment. I believe majority of Indians did not agree with the destruction of the mosque and it was again the relgious nut jobs on the Indian side of the border that were responsible. It just proves my point that religion is used as propoganda. You are quoting an example of Agori, of which I have no idea. I have never come across these teachings so I cannot comment on what I don't know. As far as handing Kashmir goes, I think the premise is again based on religious demarcation. Please note there are more muslims in India then Pakistan. Handing Kashmir to Pakistan will give signal to the Muslims that they do not belong in India. These are the muslims who chose to stay in India rather than go to Pakistan. I guess you don't believe in greater good. I don't think even India would to hand Kashmir back to Kashmiri's Pakistan will be satisfied. Its military and intelligence needs conficts to survive. They do not tolerate civilian governments for long. If things were so great in Pakistan, many Pakistani's won't come to India to either join movies or play cricket. I suggest we all practice Humanism over religion and give rest to destruction of humanity in the name of religion.

Larry, I agree with your last comment, however, I mean no disrespect and I am sincere when I say this, but you really need to read up on world history. Britishers have not been India for past 64 years. My point was while they were there they plundered the natural and man made resources of India, India is now trying to dig out of whole the same we did in US after the Independance. The difference is we won independance from England in 1776, while India and Pakistan did not until 1947. The troops on Indian border are to stop infelteration from the Pakistan side. This is the same scenario we fear on our western borders, terrorist coming into the country from Mexico, thus creating fencing and sending more national guards.

Catha is of Egyptian Latin, origin of Latin is in Egypt not Greece. Originally Latin (Truth) consisted of 26 alphabets and another 10 were invented in Egypt. Greece was settled way after Egypt. Catha is part of Indian language as usual propagated to have been borrowed from Greek but in reality a word of Latin, meaning Compound. Like wise the word Vatican is of Egyptian origin. Vata meaning the stone, referring to Stone Paris of Persian Zoroastrianism. The religion of Maggi's or fourtune tellers ,labeled as propherts by the Pagans. Chathlism was invented with the help of pagans pretending to be jews and Augstin of Egyption Hindu religious center of Carthage, predisessor of Hindu pagan settlement on Ganji river and enslavement of local papulation and conversion to Hinduism by force. Chatholism nothing more than Persian Pagan Zoroestherism and Jesus is adopted, not to his claim as a messenger of Allah, the creator of heavon and earth but is worshiped as a Mithra of Paganism as in Hinduism, or the life of slavery of man God.

We should not be living the way the Countries should be run by any Bible!!! That is the problem with the world today!!! We need the world so that all People in the World has the same chance to better themselves in Their Countries as long as they are willing to work for it... To force one Country to compete with any other will never do it!!!

They are putting Their lives there to keep People like you so that you can say what You like about them!!! YOUR PEOPLE SHOULD BE SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS NOT TALKING AGAINST THEM...

Pashtun is not really a pushtoon, he is an Indian who is making disparaging remarks for american troops so they turn against the Afghan people. American troops are putting their lives in danger only to bring peace in Afghanistan. May God help them and the afghan people and the pakistani people. They should all be fighting this fight together against terrorism. And the only way to win this war is through non violence means. Greg mortensen gives a good solution in his book 'stones into school'

Pakistan's military is the real government in that country. The army and ISI have systematically developed a terrorism supporting military machinery. At one hand it claims to combat terrorism and gets funding from the US and on the other hand collaborates with the terrorist groups. The planned attack on Mumbai is one such example. The West although fully aware of this sinister designs has done very little to correct the evil plot. The West is thus funding war against another democracy, India, while 'pretending' to be champions of democracy. Kayani fits well in this military-money terrorist supporting design.

Liars always feel that other person is a liar and tht pakistanis are the holly cows. After imposing four wars, blasts after blasts and with retired pakistani army and ISI men in Kashmir Valley, you want the referrendum to be held because the incompetent politicians of India committed to it? You must be crazy foxy vicken to dream about it, since the same Shimla agreement required pakistanis to withdraw its occupiers. By the way, it is indeed a shame that the incompetent Indian politicians have not imposed justice on you guys. Surrender J&K and behave like a good neighbor for ten years and you will see the problems go away as well, but your islamic values would not allow you to do so. Keep up with your islamic lies dude.

Lol surrender Jammu and Kashmir, why don't you follow your own advice JP and surreneder it to Pakistan maybe then there will be no problems either. If Kashmir falls to India it is basically the end of Pakistan because India will have direct control of the water flow into Pakistan and everyone knows India would like nothing better.

Excuse me? Pakistan never had any issues with terrorism or anything until the Afghans came barging in as refugees when the Russians were going postal on all y'alls asses. You guys brought in drugs, ammunition, kidnapping and crime to an otherwise fairly civil society.

I swear sometimes I wonder if assisting the Afghans during that time was even a good idea at all. Afghanistan and Egypt were the only two countries that opposed the creation of Pakistan in the UN. I wouldnt have cared if the Russians plowed all the way through. Now when you guys cant handle your own crap, Pakistan is a very convenient scape goat.

I just know in response to this blurb, there will be a flood of Indians coming in to your rescue and calling Pakistan the root of all evil in the world. The truth is that Pakistan is just like a school yard kid who gets dragged into a brawl when trying to mediate and then is getting his teeth kicked in from all sides!

Let it be known to your islamic senses that the buddha sculptures destroyed in Afghanistan under your ideology establishes the facts that the hindu kush mountains were once a hindu territory who were trying to live peacefully. some times after islamic zealots like babur, ghori et al destroyed the hindu rulers, the people over there must also have been ethnicaly cleansed like they are doing their job in Kashmir currently. Indians today do not want to go back to destroy your islamic values, but only want to live in peace without your islamic jehad. Alla hafiz.
