Pakistani soldiers killed, missing in border clashes

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Three dozen Pakistani soldiers are missing after a Taliban attack on a Pakistani post along the Afghan border, the Pakistani military said Thursday.

The attack occurred Monday in Mohmand Agency, a district in Pakistan's federally administered tribal areas.

Two days later, Pakistani security forces launched raids in three areas of Mohmand Agency, killing 38 militants and capturing 23, the military said.

Ten security officers were also killed.

Pakistani security forces are continuing the operations against militants in the tribal area of the country, which Washington considers the center of Taliban and al-Qaeda remnants.

The United States has been pushing Pakistani authorities to crack down on al Qaeda-linked groups believed to be operating in the largely ungoverned tribal areas, where clashes have not been uncommon in recent months.

They were not killed, just converted to the Taliban. Pakistan is a terrorist training center and harbors terrorists especially OBL. They have been lying to us and now they will pay.

It's not the Pakistani people, it's the corrupt people in the Pakistani government that bother me. I think there should be a purge of those individuals, honestly.

Yes. The best place to start, is a purge in the ISI, as they control the country, as shadows, behind the scene

How is this a war on Pakistani nuclear energy ? I don't think the Taleban, or Al-Queda, for that matter, has any interest in Pakistan's nuclear energy. And why should they kill thousands of Pakistanis and Afghans, for that reason ?

It's a very public secret, that ISI controls all this killing, both in the tribal areas and in Afghanistan too, as they control the Taleban, by protecting them in Pakistan, financing them, and giving them arms. As I said, I don't understand WHY they do this, as they are the reason that so many innocent Pakistanis get killed, every day, by bombs and otherwise. I can't figure out WHY they allow the masskilling of their own people, instead of protecting them, as they're supposed to do. If they fought the Taleban instead, it wouldn't take long, before they were gone, and both Pakistan and Afghanistan could finally live in peace. But obviously ISI don't WANT peace, but they like chaos and killings

It is likely the Pakistani military just went out and whacked a bunch of people, for revenge, because they have no way of knowing who the bad guys really are, any more than we do... I guess the three dozen missing Pakistani soldiers know who the bad guys are, eh? There was not a word in this article about finding their three dozen comrades or any of their body parts in their retaliation effort, is there? There is no one in the tribal lands who want Pakistani, Coalition or any forces cruising around their neighborhood – and I don't blame them. So the Pakistanis killed 38 people who we have no way of knowing the affiliation of... and lost 10 of their own – plus 36 that disappeared – and for this Holbrooke declares the insurgency degraded and hands Pakistan millions of dollars we do not have. I wonder what kind of meds all these politicians must be on? Oh Well, the US will soon fall victim to its insane spending frenzy – and that will bring and end to a great deal of suffering perpetuated by the US government in other countries around the globe – and will
brings that great suffering home to the people of the US. I would say God Bless America – but, not even God could have anything but disgust for the behavior of the US government in nearly every area in which it exercises jurisdiction. .

You're right. It's terrible that the ISI administrates the killing of Pakistani soldiers, their own people, by using Taleban, to do the dirty jobs. ISI is a bunch of bloodthirsty killers
