Wedding attack was carried out by suicide bomber

A bombing at a wedding ceremony in Afghanistan's Kandahar province was carried out by a suicide bomber wearing an explosives-laden vest, the interior ministry said Thursday.

The explosion Wednesday in the village of Nagaan killed 40 people and wounded 74 others, the interior ministry said.

The Taliban said it was not responsible for the attack.

The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the bombing but did not provide a casualty count.

"This ruthless violence brought to the Afghan people at what should have been a time for celebration demonstrates the Taliban's sickening and indiscriminate tactics to try to intimidate the citizens of Afghanistan," said Lt. Gen. Nick Parker, Deputy Commander, International Security Assistance Force on Thursday.

The village is about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the city of Kandahar.

The explosion came during the wedding dinner, between 9:30 and 10 p.m., striking the area where the men and boys were dining separately from the women.

All the casualties were men or boys, village officials said.

Killa, yopu are a genius, that would absolutely work. One good bombing deserves another. I think that would send a definite message to the bombers and their families!!!!!

The way you stop these suicide bombers is this way. After the explosion, you find the head and identfy who the bomber was and then go find his family, the whole family and kill them all. The family are the ones who get the money for their family member who did the suicide run. You kill them all, mom, dad, rat, cat, cocaroaches, everyone dies and you send a message to the next bomber. See they carry out bombing to kill your family members so we should return the favor, dead people can't spend the money!!!!!

    Who operated the suicide bomber?
Probably just another UKUSA knockoff with a short circuit, but my bet is Motorola or British Telecom

These people make about as much sense as the drug cartels killing innocent people in Mexico. It's no wonder Westerners have such a poor view of Islam, because it is automatically associated with such mindless slaughter of innocents. I am not saying this is what Islam is, but that is the conception that is created by fanatics and radicals. My prayers to the innocent peoples of Afghanastan and my condemnation to hell for killers. May you be bathed in the blood of swine and buried with a dog.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mujahideen in the region have conducted an investigation, which has revealed that this crime was committed by the invaders. The Mujahideen spoke to some of the survivors who were attending the wedding ceremony at the time it was attacked by the invaders. The survivors have mentioned that just before the bombing took place they heard spy planes hovering over the area, and soon after they heard a loud explosion, and then there was panic, there were dead and injured bodies every were. This cowardly act of the invaders will not deter the freedom loving Afghan's from their struggled to liberate their country from the invading forces.

I didn't know that there was a CSI: Taliban episode in the works here. What stands out to me is the fact that our 'spy' planes don't make enough noise to be heard from 25 miles away... Plus, if a Taliban 'investigator' is sitting there attempting to 'interiew' a witness at such a scene, do you think the witness would point a finger at him and say "You did it!"? lol please... nothing is more cowardly than the mujahadeen and their groupies.

Ummmm, our "spy planes" dont hover, and we probably wouldn't use spy planes anyway.I'm sure that they would use drones, which would be inaudible at over 20 miles.Plus there's the fact that some of the people there picked ball bearings out of the wounded. The U.S. in funny in a war (making the bomblets in a cluster bomb the same color as food ration packets used to be) but I'm 99.9% sure that no U.S. munition carries ball bearings, but guess what does contain them???? eh?? eh??? comeon ,,,thaht's right suicide bomber vests.TALIBAN suicide bomber vests contain them to disperse upon explosion multiplying the number of dead and wounded...I mean if you can kill a 7 year old for spying, why not kill half a wedding reception. They are nothing but stone age, fanatical followers of an ancient child molesting fool.
Oh and their holy book is poop

Marty The ones responsible are not the Taliban. The ones responsible are Repressed American Quack Scientists who's agenda is to seek and destroy anything be – it an innocent wedding; children travelling in a bus; a damn oil rig explosion causing havoc and destruction or earth displacements causing earthquakes; tsunamis and vulcanos to erupt. Get back
to me I'll tell you how its done. Real inside information I just wish CNN or someone from the media would just listen.

CNN should track down where this guy commented from since he is the senior Taliban spokesman. How come no one else has noticed that? That would be why he tries to switch this around to blame NATO.

Just wonder what an outcry there would have been, if NATO forces by accident had done that. It seems, that the daily atrocities, committed by the Taleban, against the ordinary Afghan people, are reckoned as of not much importance or weight, both to the national and the international community. The incident only get a few lines in the news, where something done by NATO forces, leading to a civilian death, although it was not on purpose, as here, but an accident, will be blown out of proportion, condemned by the Afghan president himself, and all the worlds media. Why is it that the incredible atrocities done daily, by the Taliban, against innocent civilians, executing even children, are somehow reckoned as "normal", giving no outcry against them, neither by the populace, president Karzai or the world press ? It's horrible, that these terrible acts, done daily, by the murderous Taliban, don't hit the headlines all over, and is condemned, and revenged by the local populace. The situation there is becoming very strange. The soldiers are putting themselves in terrible danger, just to avoid killing a civilian, by accident, whille the Taliban is murdering, on purpose, executing, hundreds and hundreds of civilians, without punishment or condemnation, from the Afghans themselves. Hell is just lose, if a NATO soldier, makes even one small mistake. It is as if the Afghans really don't care so much, if it's the Taliban doing the killing. If that really is the fact, we better start packing, going home, and leave them to the killing of each other, themselves, if that's what they wish, so we lose no more soldiers, trying to help out an ungrateful nation

I agree. I can't stand the fact that our troops bend over backwards to protect civilians and IF they make a mistake, it's plastered all over the news and condemned by all levels of the Afghan Gvt. and N.A.T.O... yet the Taliban deliberately massacres people at this wedding, and nobody cares. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE OVER THIS? Where are you people that always say "Wow, what a waste. I condemn the ones who did this" whenever N.A.T.O. makes a mistake. Where are the Afghans who protest when N.A.T.O. accidentally bombs a couple civilians because the Taliban were hiding behind them?

there's the implication of PRECISION with the application of military force. are you seriously arguing a deliberate act of terror carried out by a suicide bomber is the SAME THING as a deadly mistake perpetrated by so-called professional soldiers?

i can't believe how cavalier you people are. this was a wedding! is it ok to you because the people were brown?

what if it WAS a nato bomb? no big deal? would you still not care if it was the wedding of someone you knew? what if it was your daughter? or maybe your mother. then i would never have had to suffer reading your diarrhea.

Exactly what are you talking about? Maybe you should try re-reading my post (and search for some common sense while you are at it). I'm referring to the fact that the media and all the nay-sayers would plaster this as front page news if it were reported that an errant bomb from a N.A.T.O. plane killed all these people at the wedding. There would be people all over the place condemning it and calling for the pilot to be tried for war crimes. But the fact that it was a suicide bomber from the Taliban makes the media and nay-sayers (in other words, the Anti-Americans/N.A.T.O.) shrug it off and not care.

I'm referring to the fact that there is a double standard... and in a time of war, that is certainly unfair and ridiculous.

he campaign to delegitimize Israel continues. Bloody knifes held by the thugs who attacked Israeli soldiers have been cropped out of photos. “Eyewitness” accounts of those claiming that the "peace activists" did not engage in violence continue to be broadcast despite the contradictory video evidence. And many in the media ignore the fact that Israel facilitates the delivery of true humanitarian goods into Gaza every day.

Together we ARE making a difference. We have seen stories in the major media that do tell the truth. By spreading video footage, images and cold hard facts around the world via our website and our social media networks - the story is being told.
