Afghan police kill 7 suicide bombers

Kabul, Afghanistan — Seven suicide bombers attempting to enter government buildings Wednesday were killed by police in Afghanistan's Nimruz province, local officials said. Authorities were searching for two other potential bombers.

A female member of the provincial council was killed in the incident and five police officers were injured, said Ghulam Dastagir Azad, governor of the province.

CNN's Atia Abawi contributed to this report.

How convenient, 7 in one blow and right before the little tailor meets with Pres. Obama. All this after Obama pays Karzai an unannounced “WTH are you doing and get your act together” visit a couple of months ago.

Don't believe it. The whole place isn't worth the life of any of those kids from all over the world who have fought and died there.

Karzai and his brother will continue to condemn the Taliban in front of the press while continuing their lucrative poppy trade behind the scenes.

Too bad they cannot catch these guys without killing them. Would be good to capture them, then detonate them in a field or somewhere, where they know before they die they will be blowing up nothing but themselves – true suicide bombers – throwing their lives away for nothing.

Reality. We the usa the good guys have started two wars, threw out the geneva convention where did we go wrong. I feel for the parents of soldiers on here, as like our friends that came home in a box, (many buried years ago) they died for nothing. We will be out of iraq in a year........they are still dead and forgotten. Picture you little children like I try not to, torn up by munitions, we have killed more civilians many women and children than enemy. Both countries together are not worth one dead child. It doesn't matter on this blog which side you are on, reality is reality. We started a war, killed thousands of innocents, we will go home. Quit sticking your nose into other countries business, and I would at least get a little upset at the govt using your children in such a reckless and again wrong manner. Shame on you all who never stood up to this war till it became "popular" especially the older generation......shame.

Ive notice a sort of pattern here and its very revealing. Those drab individuals who insist on patronizing our country the one that they live in and feeds their bellies with fine foods and clothes their back in fine garments and protects them and their families with the blood of the volunteer, you have no respect or appreciation for the stability that has been laid down for you by your fellow patriotic americans. Therefore how could you possibly appreciate the fact that we would try to provide this type of freedom for everyone. Does any good man woman or child not deserve what has been givin to you? Sure our country is not perfect but it is one of the best and if your so unhappy with it then there is a whole world out there. Dont let the door hit you on the way out. How could you be so calous. Sure the cause may not always be the best or the politics in any war may be bogus but the thing to remember that our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles ect. have paid the price so that you may have your love peace and chicken grease imaginary and fairytalistic vision of the world that you wish you could live in. Just remember that your doing so from your couch. and were out here bleeding to accomplish it for you. with blood. God bless america and her sons and daughters who serve. keep safe guys and see you soon!

I hope this isn't another paid for "good news." Let's revue. Saddam Hussein was killed several times by bunker buster bombs and we know now how he died. That guy Mehsud. Latest accounts show that he has been killed, at least twice. More news coming on later. Pat Tillman died fighting the "insurgents" and he was given the silver star or something close to that, when we know now how he was actually killed. It was reported that it was because his "buddies" felt like he acted like a prima donna. Jessica Lyncj was also given another silver star for being in coma and when she came out of it, she fouind out she was a "heroine." One time, one of those generals from West Point, stated that the army has killed 400 insurgents and then it turned out to be "More feeling good news" padi by our hard earned money. In other words, your lie is as good as mine and this news lose credibility a la the boy who cried wolf. If lying becomes the new "journalism" when can we tell for sure that our government, or our embedded media is telling the truth? Never. I wish that our media would go back to the standards set by Murrow and Cronkite, but I think those times, truth above all, will never return, thanks to the bottom line and the parttisanship where living will counselings can become death panels.

      Robert at 4:59pm,
You're proving yourself to be just another partisan idiot... These wars weren't STARTED by Democrats but they must be finished by them. The war in Afghanistan was started as a result of 9/11 - both Rep and Dems agreed that was the right thing to do so there wasn't a backlash except from people who argue that any war is unjust.

The bigger issue many have had was with the Iraq war and not the Afghan war. We were already fighting in Afghanistan when Bush decided to attack Iraq. That war wasn't imminent at the time. The UN sanctions against Iraq were ineffective but they could have continued to attempt to refine the process. We took our eye off the ball and spread our forces and resources too thinly instead of finishing up in Afghanistan and then, going after Iraq if need be (which is debatable due to the fact the intel was false). So now we have Iran who has been let off the hook by disarming their bitter enemies the Iraqis so they can now spend their resources on uranium enrichment. They also know we don't have the stomach (or resources) for more war. It's all a snowball unraveled by the yee-haw cowboys who left office (Bush/Cheney). It's a all a mess that has less to do with Dem/Rep as much as doing something dumb and dumber... We're in this war and we can't turn and run away like we did in the first Iraq war which caused all Iraqi people who supported us to be killed. We have to support the standup of some kind of government against the taliban or we're going to find ourselves with another huge mess to try to cleanup at a later date.

    Hi Maribel,

There are channels you can go through to find information on your son. Call your local recruiters office, and they will give you a phone number that you can contact. Asking a journalist for information on your son's whereabouts is not an appropriate channel for that information, and it can be potentially embarassing for your son. If anyone Googles his name in the future, they may find this posting from you.
