Official: Al Qaeda short in nukes pursuit

The president's top counterterrorism adviser says there is indisputable evidence that dozens of terrorist groups have sought weapons of mass destruction. But a U.S. intelligence official who is not authorized to speak for attribution said although al Qaeda clearly wants a nuclear weapons capability, it hasn't gotten very far.

"At this point, they don't appear to have made much progress, but we continue to review every bit of information that comes in to determine whether they've advanced their efforts in any way whatsoever," said the official. "Developing a nuclear device involves a highly sophisticated technical process, and al Qaeda doesn't seem to have mastered it based on what we know now."

I'm all for using nukes on Afghanistan....a complete and utter scorched earth policy, pull the allies out and wipe the place off the face of the earth. Job done. The shockwaves through the muslim world would teach them never to mess with the west ever again....or whatever rogue state would get the same treatment.

Never, ever, under-estimate your enemies capabilities. To do so is foolish and suicidal.

Daniel, you are a political anarcist aren't you. I hope some day I get to meet you in person. I do enjoy your comments. Keep writing.
The threat of any terrorist getting nukes is very real. Remember Russia still can not acount for 2 of it's suit case nukes & that is confermed by the UN IAEC. They might be old but they can still be detonated, all it would take is a little C-4, a blasting cap & timer & someone smart enough to put that trigger in the dome of the nuke, set it & get out or not get out. Oh & by the way, Iran allready has a crude nuke & they are just wetting themselves wanting to test it but they know if they do everybody will know & they will get there ass's handed to them.
It is funny that in John's vision GOD said when he purges the earth this time he will do it with fire, hum!!!!!!!!!!!
May GOD Bless & keep us all !!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is Al Qaeda going to procure any kind of a nuclear weapon or anything remotely like it? They're well on the run now and have all they can do just to survive, but the right-wing thugs in Washington still need them just to scare the rest us into supporting this insidious war.
