Companion on the hunt for IEDs

She's the only female dog handler in all of Afghanistan. She's constantly on patrols with Marines, looking for deadly IEDs with her dog in the searing heat of Helmand.

She is not the only female dog handler in Afghanistan. There is an Army female handler currently there and has been for at least a month !!!

There's an active duty enlisted Navy female dog handler based out of FOB Walton, and a British enlisted female dog handler based out of the Helmand MOB PRT HQ. So that makes at least four of them in Afg...
All dog handlers are a God-send to Soldiers; we are endebted to you and your fine animals.

She is not the only female dog handler in all of Afghanistan, but she might be the only female Active Duty handler in all of Afghanistan. There are far more contracted explosives detection dog handlers in Afghanistan than there are Active Duty K9 handlers, and we are all on the same team and have the same mission- to keep Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Civilians alive. Most of us are prior military as well. Stay safe, my fellow K9 sister!!
