Suicide bomber trips, kills 5, injures 13

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan  - Five civilians were killed and 13 injured when a bumbling suicide bomber tripped Thursday as he tried to attack a military convoy in northwestern Pakistan, police said.

The suicide bomber was running toward the passing convoy when he tripped over a bench and detonated before reaching his target, said Asif Khan, a Peshawar police official. The attack occurred in Baraqadeem, an area just outside of Peshawar, the capital of the North-West Frontier Province. The bombing occurred around 5:50 p.m. (7:50 a.m. ET), Khan said.

Thats what you call an unholy war.
Its time that every God-fearing person stood up to these thugs and informed that anyone who kills goes to hell.

I find it absolutely rediculous that you all would even debate the issue. I abhor the loss of innocent lives, and so should the Taliban, the US troops, and the Mujaheeden cowards.

Plain & simple, this was an absolute COWARD who tried (& succeeeded) to kill innocent bystanders. Don't care if he tripped. COWARD

Man up & fight for real. Wussies.

When I read such news about Pakistan, I always remember the song "What goes around comes around ". For using Terrorism as an instrument of their foreign policy since the time of separation from India, they seem to be earning rich dividends on their own soil now.

Suicide bombers trip and blow up civilians in Pakistan and you blame the politicians in Washington? The target of the vest wasn't even American you idiot. You clearly have little to no undesrstanding of how this part of the world operates, and I'm sure you have never been there. Maybe you just read the headline, and not the 2 paragraph article. Either way you should probably read a few politically balanced books on the subject, or better yet get some real world experience, before ever speaking again.

  9. far from bumbling - 5 people killed is a sad loss of life

whomever wrote this report, should be censored for such a stupid reference. that a bomber tripped before hitting his target is of no consequence, he still detonated and killed 5 people. unfortunatly this was a success in the eyes of the terrorists. yes, it could have been far worse had he suceeded in making it closer to the convoy, but the whole way that suicide bombing is portrayed in the media is sickening to those of us who value every single human life on this planet. that is of course, with the exception of suicide bombers and their creators.

when will democracies on this planet realise that suicide bombing is a terror tactic that is destroying the fabric of humanity, it must be ended.

when the Japanese started using Kamakazi pilots in WW2 the US decided to drop the H Bomb on Japan. it ended the war quickly, because any group that resports to using its own citizens as bombs has no right to breath on our planet.

suicide bombing is so inhumane, so backward, so despicable, so terrible, that i MUST NOT be tolerated EVER.

we must take away the funds and the lives of those that support suicide bombing, and take back our freedoms from those evil men.

It is a well known fact that some terrorist organizations use people who are mentally challenged as they are easily made to do what they want done. So it is entirely possible this was the case. It is a shame that the followers of the prophet who proclaim nothing but peace do not step up and help stop these atrocities. All they want to do is say we aren't the ones doing this it is the extremists. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. If more people got involved the terrorists could be rooted out and stopped.

pakistan is reaping what it has sown. Year past and continuing to the present they have created and supported terrorist groups to use against others. Now these groups have turned upon their masters and civilians are paying the price.

Suicide bombers should have one day per year where they all gather in one place and blow each other up.

Only Pakistan is suffering due to puppet governments who serve others not our nation. Our government is total failure, wish Pakistani people can kick these puppet out of country. Pakistani people are not terrorist but it is all around caught by conspiracies and anti pakistani bodies.

Living on the edge of life people here can't even think of any alternate way or a way to change their life. they are driven to think only about how bring a day's food, how to pay school fees

Yeah Daniel, you're right. The evil Americans should most definitely end this terrible and immoral war so that the psychotic Taliban and Al Qaeda can go back to the hay days of publicly hanging homosexuals, pouring battery acid on teenage girls for showing thier faces in public, beating women mercilessly for leaving thier homes with out the proper male escort or permission and all thier other wonderful and amazing cultural offerings. you are a prat.

he may not have reached his target; but he still killed 5 people and ruined the lives of another 13. He accomplished his mission of terror. Sad that even someone incompetent can be used by others as a tool for evil.

It is a good thing that the suicide bomber did not hit his target but I feel for those who were killed and injured. Pakistan is gaining ground from the Taliban and terrorists and should go full force into the north-western province! Better yet they should work together with the coalition in this area. Then we would quickly take out these radical Islamic terrorists and there would be less of them who would strap on a suicide vest!
